Let's see if dopey has a response.

If not, I say we roll out the ban waggon.

EDIT: At least you got your money back. That is good to hear.

I'll be honest - I won't be surprised if cilegray receives the package in a few weeks, postmarked with the right date.

Every single time I've shipped to Canada it's taken weeks, and weeks, and weeks.

Without a Tracking Number the package could be anywhere
including even back at the shipper...

If thats true then cilegray is still doing the right thing. He's just covering himself up with that paypal claim. I would do the same if the seller does not respond at all..

I waited 42 days, which I think is more than adequate for something like this... I paid 100$ shipped and it was up to him to decide which shipping method he wanted to use, but I let him know that without delivery confirmation... he couldn't do anything in case of a paypal dispute. I guess he still shipped it @ cheapest possible option... (if he did) and that probably bit him in the ass.

If it gets here, he'll get his money back, but at this point... it is highly unlikely.

Trevor, for having ordered from the states hundreds and hundreds of times, shipping times are usually 3 weeks TOPS. Heck, DealExtreme and KaiDomain ship faster than this guy...

Packages first class from the US are usually 2-3 weeks.....

Cilegray you did the right thing, if the package isn't lost then it likely got returned to the seller. Maybe it will show up who knows, but he should have shipped it tracked + insured...

justdopey's lasts activity on LPF was last night?
Lets see if he logs in the the next few days and responds?

I always hope for the best, and like to assume all people are good. I believe he did ship it, but it's lost or stolen from one of the two postal systems.

Thats why you always pay extra for tracking. It might not pay for a lost package, but at least it would stop any accusations of foul play. The buyer can see it shipped and the seller can see if it was delivered.

I agree, it would be different if Smeerworts package did not arrive. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything from dopey because of this thread, but I don't think he should be banned from the forum. And since we now have mods approving posts in the BST section, at most maybe a ban on selling or a warning of poor past sales.

Whenever i buy something "shipped" meaning price includes shipping costs i ask questions, Typically its not a problem with experienced sellers/vendors. In some cases with primarily the few young dumb sellers market its an opportunity. Gotta ask and document how will my package be shipped if you dont know them..

My reasoning is if cilegray says he hasn't talked to justdopey for some time and justdopey was on the forums yesterday and did not try to contact cilegray that is a big flag for me... Just saying if he was on yesterday cilegray should have an open line of communication with him or a PM at least. If not looks like he is kind of avoiding him you know?

Oh, I agree with your thought process. I just don't like banning except as a last resort. I neg repped him for this. But not because I think he intentionally scammed cilegray, but I think this whole thread is a disaster. He conducted one of the worst sales I have personally seen on here.

But I don't like excessive bannings and I don't think he should be denied the ability to access the forums or ask questions and post here because of that.

In my optimistic judgement, I think he just ran a sloppy sale and it bit him in the butt. I could be wrong, but I'd rather err on the safe side than ban him when cilegray got his money back. I do admit it was a big pain in the butt for cilegray though.

We get a lot of assholes that run through here. After a while you just want them gone for good!

I hope there is a legitimate problem that happened here. But with cilegray saying he's gone dark and just had the money refunded that something is fishy.

I have to agree with you Mr GT. Just because they have a few posts , Avatar, and a nameless name or handle they could be an Asshole.

I've been here a bit longer and have seen sellers "do their thing".

We've tried the "its his first offense, just don't let him sell on the
forum" routine a few times. It turned out the "seller" just conducted
business in PMs and E-Mail and always aimed at the Noobs.

As has been mentioned many times.. Mods do not have access
to member's PMs or E-Mails

The only way to nip that in the bud and protect the rest of the
Forum community is to Ban the offending "seller".

If I as a seller knew of a problem with an item I sold to a member
I would explain the issue and try to put the member at ease...
Unless I had something to hide I wouldn't scurry under a rock to
avoid the issue with that member.

Maybe there are some other reasons for the non response...:undecided:

BTW...It should be noted that he was last on line before Post #174..
