*Special Price*

I will have these available for purchase in the next few days. I have been waiting for my aluminum to come into stock (will be here 01/25/11). For now I am assembling a preorder list. I will PM those on the list first as I finish these units. Pictures of heatsink coming soon!

The heatsink will fill the internal cavity and will have integrated driver heatsinking which will allow for very simple and clean driver heatsinking.

This kit would include the host itself, the module heatsink, and the driver heatsink. Just add a driver, battery and aixiz module with diode and your ready to beam.

This design requires quite a bit of machining but I will sell them for $25 shipped. Limited Time

If your interested will add you to this post as a preorder. No money down required. If you think you will be interested in the future also let me know because that will help me to determine how many I make.

shipping to canada?

Yes you would just have to pay the difference which I dont think would add up to much.

I can make it fit 2 cr123a's no problem. I would have to sleeve it so that they dont rattle but I would do that free of charge for anyone *WITH REQUEST* at time of payment.

If it's an 18650 host, it can undoubtably fit two cr123a's.

I have personally bought all the hosts and parts that I can for awhile, but for $25 I see these selling very well :)

Re: Feeler: New Inexpensive 18650 Host Kit

Its a bit difficult to gauge from the pics, but would this be any good as a host for 445s?

Considering the price tag i'm definitely interested. I would like to know how much space there is to fit a driver though, since i prefer to use my own over any of the commercially available ones.

For that i'd prefer 2xCR123 over 18650, but that seems to be a minor issue that can be resolved with a sleeve and perhaps a spacer.

Its perfect for a 445nm

The host could almost hold 2 18650s if I stopped the heatsink at the neck but so that only a single 18650 (or 2 cr123a) is needed the heatsink will continue into the barrel a couple of inches (with the top portion milled off) which gives more room for a large heatsinked driver than any other host I know of. I never liked how in order to heatsink the driver most kits require modification. This kit will only require thermal adhesive.

Once the aluminum arrives ill post pictures of the finished unit in detail before I send it out to rhd who is first on the preorder list.

Re: Feeler: New Inexpensive 18650 Host Kit

An interesting thought -
If it can almost hold 2 18650's, then it could surely hold 3 CR123s (16340s).

Three cells, means this would be an easy LM317 candidate, even with a high powered 445nm diode.

That also means this is a phenominal candidate for making a REALLY affordable 445nm build. IE - $25 host + $3 driver + diode/housing/lens.

I have bought these host around chrismas time but ended up returning them because i was not able to unscrew the Crown. How the heck did you get the aluminum Crown unscrewed.?

If anyone wants to try this I can make them to hold 3 cr123a's and try to keep as much room as possible for the driver.

Very carefully using a vise with 2 towels, a channel locks, ice and a torch.... :gun:

The miracles of aluminum expansion and contraction

Thats probably going to take the most time of the whole build! But ive done it quite a few times in the past. Ill make sure to get the threads nice and smooth for all the kits I send out.
