Re: Sale Thread: New Inexpensive 18650/cr123a Host Kit

I put a 445nm in one of those with 3 cr123's, a rkcstr driver, and a massive heatsink. Had to press fit the heatsink though because I couldn't get that damn bezel off.
It does make a decent host with such a huge heatsink and the different battery options. Plenty of room for different driver setups as well.
$25 is a good price.

Yeah, I couldn't get these crowns off either, I got a couple of these hosts myself. That part alone makes the kit worth your trouble. The crowns are also a little bit sharp, I cut my finger a little trying to get one off (very little surface cut - maybe a drop or two of blood).

Good luck getting these kits all together :), and thanks for the tip about the crown - I assumed it was permanent after so long, I guess I'll give it another shot.

Mark me down for 1x of the 18650 version. Do you PM when they're available?

Your on the list

I will be working on them tomorrow and then PMing those on the list and sending them out in that order. I see no reason that I shouldnt be able to have several done by tomorrow night so you could realistically have it in a few days.

I have since added a 445nm diode, flexdrive at 1200mA and I am waiting on the epoxy holding the battery positive contact to cure. More pictures will be added in the morning. I will also start work on the preorder hosts!

This price will not last much longer. Theres a bit more machine work required than I had anticipated and this kit and heatsink are quite large.

Wow.. Nice!! Can't wait to get one!!!! I've just got to decide what I want to put into it. I'm leaning towards a 400-500mw 405nm build. Damn nice work, sir! :thanks:

hey, do you think this aluminum heatsink is adequate enough for a 1w 445nm?.....i would usually say copper but it is turning out to be a nice host.

Its much more than adequate for a high power 445nm. I have one built as 445nm set at 1.3A and it doesnt even get warm after being on for a full minute. I havent tried longer but with the driver heat sinked so well the duty should be almost continuous.

For those waiting on hosts they are still in the works. I decided to make sure and build one into a working unit just to be sure there wouldnt be any unforeseen issues when you guys get your kits. Right now im just trying to figure out the best option for the battery positive terminal. It nees to be mounted on the back of the heatsink but isolated electrically from it. Right now im using the contact on the original LED driver but im open to any suggestions if you guys have any! :yh:
