Re: SOLD: MS-V4 Host for Single Cell Builds - 1x16340 - ALL SHIPPED

Finally got mine today as I was out of town when they arrived! My PL520 Build is done and a build thread is in the works! Thanks Sinner!!!

PS-do you know of an easier way to press fit the modules in there? I was in my garage for over 30 minutes with my vice and I had to hammer the thing you twist to get enough force to get it in there! Luckily nothing went wrong with the first build....cannot say the same about the vice....pretty sure I messed that mofo up!

Also with regards to the tailclickies that you sent with them, what would you recommend putting in the clickies so that they will work on the switch? Left alone it will not allow full depression of the switch, so there needs to be some filler I guess.

You'll need a stonger vice, A C-Clamp would also work great since it can hold the entire host and you just insert your leads into the h/s and place the module, Carefully press it in while you're pressing make sure it doesnt tilt.. If it tilts sideways its your c-clamp/vices fault being not aligned proper..

The clicky cover is actually ingenious, you'll find that out when i tell you that it allows you to make the clicky switch momentary only if you want,

But the main reason i made it like this was, You first put a layer of two-part epoxy and fill it up just below the neck.. let it dry.. and then adhere it to the tailcap with a Teensy bit of epoxy.. This gives a super solid aluminum-epoxy-epoxy-switch connection..

Okay, that seems easy enough....time to find some epoxy lol. And yeah, I had a feeling the vice was the problem. Thanks for the quick response. I am going to try and get the tailcap sorted out tomorrow.

Re: SOLD: MS-V4 Host for Single Cell Builds - 1x16340 - ALL SHIPPED

Well...the tail clicky switch on one of my MS-V4's just stopped working. It would turn on momentarily at different stages of the button press and then it just stopped turning the laser on. I changed batteries 3 times to make sure that wasn't the issue, and then I changed the tailcap from my good one to the one that was having issues and now there are no issues. So the problem is definitely the tailcap. Any ideas why it went bad? Any ways to fix it? The switch is epoxied in there so I really don't think it is coming out of there.

This makes me worry about my other one and whether or not that switch is simply going to fail. Looking forward to hearing back from you on this.

Thanks,
Isaac

Re: SOLD: MS-V4 Host for Single Cell Builds - 1x16340 - ALL SHIPPED

Well thats my only horror, and i had high hopes with this one but as it seems its not good enough, I can't say it was due to amperage since its only 300mA passing through it,
I did quite some tests for current passing upto 3A but no longevity tests, but i havent had issues such as this.. Maybe its just a bad one?
You can pm me your shipping address and i'll send u a complete clicky, or just the switch.. The epoxy layer is thin and removable below which there is a retainer holding the clicky.. You should try removing it and replacing with a new switch.. Otherwise i'll make a new clicky for u..
Is there anything you have in mind i am all ears..

Re: SOLD: MS-V4 Host for Single Cell Builds - 1x16340 - ALL SHIPPED

Well, when I get home I will see if I can get the switch out of the clicky. If I can't get it to work then I would go with you shipping me a new clicky. If it comes to that though, no rush. You can ship it with my MS-SSW to save some shipping costs. I just sold some lasers by the way so I will send you the 115 for my JAD MS-SSW shortly.

Thanks,
Isaac

PS-I still hadn't put the switch cover on so no need to machine a new one or anything.
