Toked - I recommend you buy and tinker with the Nova to get an idea of how delicate it all is if you're gonna try to resurrect it.
$80 is about what I'd expect to pay for such a diode - if it's more you're being ripped off.

You will also need a driver capable of delivering the current needed by the diode, which is not something the good ole 317 can deal with without some heatsinking, and that also requires that the tab be electrically but NOT thermally isolated from the heatsink.
And lastly you'll need a lot of patience to get it going again.

Ya never know, $65 for a 500mW IR burner is pretty tempting ;)

How hard/easy are the crystals to remove?

OK an update...
Two more things available.
150mw green portable. average 220mW, 1.3mRad, 2mm beam at aperture.
Asking $400. I know this will sell. Graph here.

250mw focusable green portable, average 330mW, peak 404mw.
Asking $750. This is a bargain, as the figures put this unit on a par with units selling for over $1000 at Optotronics and Laserglow. Graph here.

Things not available anymore:
1x BluRay sled
-possibly the X105 and the portable housing
