I don't think a blue laser with power ~1.5W can burn stuff like leaves or paper more than 5m away.
At last mine can't and it outputs 1622mW "max". A red laser with power more than 300mW is better at burning at long ranges.

Blue lasers normaly have bad beam specs and the dot is more squarish than red lasers which are almost a perfect circle, If you know what I mean :)
I have seen lots of videos of laser burning stuff and know something about them.

Red lasers price: cheap
Blue lasers: price: avarage
Green lasers price: expensive
Yellow lasers: exotic "they cost ~400$ for only 5mW ..."

I'm talking about flashlight style lasers with power more than 200mW.

Just curious. I have a similar laser (m-140 in a C6 host 1,35A linear Driver)... I only have a 18650 3.7V battery.

Is it normal that it's giving the shittiest possible dot right now (really weak, etc) because I need 2x 16340 (3.7v each)?

I kind of thought if I gave it half of what it needed it would work at 50% capacity lol

A linear driver needs two 3.7V batteries to regulate the current. One cell isn't enough.
The trick with one 18650 works with a buck driver and not a linear driver.

The M140 diode won't even lase with a linear driver and one 3.7V cell.
The output is just zero.

It is lasing :O! (looks around 10x brighter in real life)

I have 16340 3.6v and 16340 3.7v
What's the best & safe ? 3.6v vs 3.7v

BTW i'll buy this briefcase, with password for my nephew

There isn't much difference between 3.6and 3.7V batteries. If you have to chose then use the 3.6V batteries. More important is a high current drain cells. They should deliver at least 1.3A

The briefcase is good. It looks very sturdy.

would these be a good choice in batteries for someone looking or RedDart?

They are 3.6V with at least 3A and 750mAh

i already have two sets of batteries waiting for my laser when it arrives :)

You think so ? Only if you buy stuff in bulk, making one at time and selling one isn't profitable. :p

I think the blue laser diode itself costs ~60$, if I'm not wrong.
