Re: Rick Trent laser kits

would you thank that the brass lens hold being .023'' smaller on the inside of the lens I tested could hold back some of the beam./power that is all I can come up with.

One way of testing. Bare lenses right infront of the diode OR using the same lens barrel.

just one that I was test I was use a 12w 808nm just took it to 1.5W 532nm it is so hard to keep it all lined up and I my have to work on making it ok to ship and putting it in a cool host .:lasergun:

Sign me up, I want a piece of that action :yh:

Re: Rick Trent laser kits

Tracking shows mine as out for delivery. Will update tonight on what I find.

Since awillis2589 already took the time to do an awesome video, I won't be making one, unless I see different results. Lenses to test against will be a Jayrob g1, and an older g2 that currently resides on my 405nm.

Re: Rick Trent laser kits

Sorry for the double post, but I figure this way people will notice the update faster.

I received the lens today. It came in a standard yellow bubble wrap envelope. Inside it was wrapped in 2-3 layers of bubble wrap, and inside that, in a small anti static bag.

The lens nut - the way the lens is mounted inside of it, is kind of odd. It's as if the lens is placed inside, a second piece is put in behind the lens, and the holder, as well as the nut are both cut.

It's hard to say from simply looking at it, but the cut is at a slight angle. I'm not sure, can't really tell, but the lens might be mounted very slight off center as well. This does not seem to effect performance, but for a $55 lens, it's not something I was pleased to see.

The lens also had a couple of specs of dirt/dust on it, so it did need to be cleaned. Nothing extreme - no fingerprint or anything, I just wiped it with a microfiber cloth - but it's a bit strange.

Visually, compared to the G1, less of the lens surface area is exposed.

Now onto the part that I'm sure interests you guys the most...

I used a Saik laser, with an m140 diode for testing. The output I observed on it previously was 2.5-2.6W with a g1.

To, if anything, swing the results in favor of the T1, I decided to test with the t1 lens first.

Two different, fresh off the charger AW 18650 2000mAh batteries were used for each test.

The laser was inside my desk drawer prior to use, ambient room temperature is/was ~73 degrees.

The laser was allowed to rest for five minutes before I ran the second test with the g1 lens.

I say this with regret, because I was hoping for different results, but the results were identical.

If there is a difference between the g1 and t1 lenses in terms of performance, it must be very small, because I couldn't see it.

How is the beam characteristics and dot profile? Any improvements over the g1?

About the same, not apparent difference at all when focused to infinity, although where with the g1 when lens is halfway focused the "dot" appears to be like this (------) with the t1 the longer aixiz appears very slightly concave;

Please just look at the shape on the right... obviously the lens doesn't look like that, and the dot is not as "concave" as that, but that's the effect. :p

How about a pic.?.?

Ya know rick's bare M140 prices are pretty good but I prefer to not press and solder the leads on myself. Rick if you started doing this DTR might have some competition, tough competition though, DTR's quality of work and shipping speed are stellar.

Re: Rick Trent laser kits

I think your kits are nicely designed, I just more of a copper guy, even though I know it gets really expensive at higher diameters.

Also rick, your ebay posting don't specify if your bare diodes are A140's or M140's?
