Previous FLexDrive units?

I hate open canned diodes. I refuse to use them anymore.

Yeah, i kinda suspected it was gonna be hard so i ordered one with preset current just in case.
Is it hard to solder to the actual diode/battery terminals? Or is it easy just like last time?
Are the holes the same distance apart?

The distance of between the holes doesn't seem to be an issue. There are some components really close to the holes, but if you solder quickly, no problem. I couldn't get the jumper to solder when I ruined the one unit. I held it too long trying to get it to stick.

I have welded them on direct likr the rkstr driver works out great.

If you are using the flexdrive V4, i have found it easier to solder to the bottom of the battery side, and to the top of the diode side.
Another good tip is to pray before you solder

Pray? LOL. I just use a flask of "holy water" to steady my hands.

I have worked with the V4 version. So far I have not had issues but i did notice that it was a tight fit. Granted I have been soldering for many years now. For beginners these V4's could be a bit hard to work with.

You just need to have some experience and some good equipment.
I managed to pull it off with a RadioShack soldering iron ;D

The holes are, yes, but the components are in a much less advantageous location. I've accidentally desoldered as follows:

That's why you use a braid.
I refuse to use anything that has vacuum pressure on anything that has small components.
