got it working:drool: Ill upload 2 pics i took. Had to stop since a client showed up at the data center. Cant be messing with a 1W laser at my desk and have him walk by to get blinded by a glare or something. Hopefully hes just changing tapes and not working on some servers. Usually im the only one here on the weekends, working in a data center rocks. My laser gets warm, I just put it on the air vent by a CRAC unit and its cooled in no time.

Those jobs where you work away from people, and can play with that on the down time are fun!!! Like mine in that pic. Over a 100' Hall that is empty all night at work makes for a fun spot for tests LOL

I noticed your avatar. I have to be careful when I have my blue and my dog walks in the room. He has no goggles. :(

You are so correct. With him I will only bring out a 5mw green to play with . Even then i like to use half dead batteries to keep the beam dimmed. I have some cats too, with animals around non-toy lasers will be put up.

Yeah, when I got my survival laser and was testing it with goggles and the dog came in and I realized it. I now shut the door. My kids are actually safety aware and my daughter gets goggles no matter what power the laser.

I've finally convinced her that the 3mW 635 is ok without goggles. :D

lol, im surprised she likes the goggles since they reduce so much light you cant really see a beam.

Yeah, they wipe out any dot at the powers I will use around the kids. But she is convinced that laser safety is more important than seeing the dot/beam.

My kit arrived today. Real easy to put together. Used a 445nm M140 Diode and a 405-G-2 Glass Lens in my build. The Driver is set at 1.62a.

Only problem I ran into is my 16340's have PCB's and the extra length or over-sized solder ball prevented the switch cap from closing all the way. I will order some batteries less, the PCB's, and hopefully that will remedy that problem.

Mrs TGPB is taking the laser to work at the university tomorrow to have the output tested on their newfangled equipment.

I'll report back their results and maybe tomorrow night I will have time for some photos.

That's nuts. These m140 diodes have been shooting a lot higher than the A140 diodes were.
and they seem to be able to handle over 2A of current. people are getting like 2.5W out of them.

That's not too bad Grand pooh. What was the total cost for your 2.1W 445nm laser? :D

Less than $127.00

Could have done it for less if I had put the diode together. All I had to do is solder two wires together. I'm still flabbergasted how powerful this turned out. When I was putting the batteries in it for the first time the end cap turned it on for a split second. It was pointing towards my stomach and I felt the heat through two shirts. Learned two lessons; 1. Put goggles on before batteries 2. Always point it away from you when installing batteries.

Mohrenberg and DTR pumping out some really good stuff, mohrenberg cant wait to buy more JAD kits, if you make more with new hosts etc....because i see you made them in the past with dif hosts, but for now i only see C6 on your site.

I bought some and forgot to use it. Im just wondering if its really needed. Do you always have to use thermal grease for the heat sink? I only have my driver set to 1.3A, so it shouldnt be pushing anywhere near 2W. Im just wondering if I should take mine apart and add some.
