Nobody needs to worry about donating for these when they're making them on a small scale. Even with the large scale stuff, it is a request / courtesy, not a mandate. But that's what helps keep these kinds of things possible. IE, if Moh builds $1 into his pricing to support development, it helps make this stuff possible, and encourages other people to try this model again in the future.

Donations (where applicable / desired / appropriate / whatever) are just to Ben, not me.

1300 drivers holy crap that's 13,000 dollars in finished products you stand to gain 4-5 dollars a peace 5200 and 7500$ well moh thats a nice new dpss for you

I think they are actually going to be a little more than that after the presale.

It is nuts, it is like he wants to be paid for his time and effort! Crazy Americans!

My wife wasn't too happy with the last gun I bought. Spent $530 on a smith & wesson M&P .22
.....without discussing it with her first.

If I don't discuss it first, I don't discuss it at all!

"What, this old thing?"

:D

I think there are some modifications that could be done to make these faster to reflow.

For one, I can't imagine that increasing the size of the board by 1mm in each dimension would actually impact their use-cases substantially. Yet and additional 1mm of space would actually make positioning some of the components easier.

There are also some other no-brainers like changing the 0603 100k resistor into a 0805.

Moh: Which revisions of the PCB are you using? If I tackle some small changes, I'd like to work from that.

that's not an uber noob question. it's actually already been asked and i forgot to check.

I think i looked briefly and it looked doable, however there is no room for heat sinking, other than simply gluing the driver to the pill itself.

I still think you can get 4 drivers on that saik heatsink It's sick!. So why not 3@700ma? Still be cheaper than a micro which wont do that kind of output. I assume you could run 2, 3 or 4 drivers at lower amp in parallel???

Think I was told just add up the resistance and do the math...
