*EDIT* Well after looking at the cost of drivers o-like and others are selling there is no way I can compete with this so I will be offereing Premade test loads based on the design seen at rog8811's site for those interested. (all credit goes to the original creator of the design):

Also I plan on integrating a slide switch to select the type of diode load to test (bluray, red, green/IR) to simplify the connections. I plan on making the design as user friendly as possible so it can be understood easily.

I do all types of custom circuit so if you need something other than test load circuits that can be done as well.

*EDIT*

I will be selling test load boards for $13+Shipping. For ease of use test loads will have a Dip switch for the type of Laser Diode you will be testing . Simply connect the driver to the test load select the type of diode load you want to simulate and check the output leads.

No one would stop you (unless you were ripping someone else's design). However, look at what is already available (and at what cost) before you invest too much time into the project.

I love this list and its members, but we are a cheap lot ;)

I would need more info about what you were proposing before I could vote "interested" or not.

Peace,

i tell ya what i would be interested in, a circuit that controlled a tec, so when to cold it warms and when to hot it cools.

Well I do plan on coming up with my own design for the test load so no worries there:D but there is really only one logical and simple way you can do a DDL type driver. The only reason I really want to offer this service is for the new people just getting into lasers that aren't capable of building a circuit or dont have the confidence to try it yet. On the other hand im not done with the research and im not quite sure I will be able to make driver circuits at a competitive price so we will just see on that one.

Lol that would be nice.. its possible with the peltier cooling but im not sure i could make something like that at a price that would be acceptable but, I like a challenge ill see what exactly would be needed and what you would be looking at for something like that:)

@Andy_con: That shouldn't be a problem with some schmitt triggers and some high gain amplifiers. I did half of this project last month as homework (only cooling). Using relays to activate a fan or a big resistor would make it all easier ;)

@killrB: as dave said, if you think you can offer us something better than the rkcstr/flexdrive, go on, but I ensure you it will be hard.

Also, learn to use the "multiquote" and the "edit" buttons. ;)

I
*EDIT*

I will be selling test load boards for $20 Shipped (U.S. only to ship elsewhere additional postage costs may be required). For ease of use test loads will have a 3 way selector switch for the type of Laser Diode you will be testing . Simply connect the driver to the test load select the type of diode load you want to simulate and check the output leads.

I got you message.

You have not been here very long, so this is just FYI. This is NOT any sort of measurement or judgment of your product.

Without clear pictures and description you will have a VERY hard time selling anything in this forum. People here are used to being able to look at and publicly (and jointly) evaluate a product.

I look forward to seeing what you are putting together.

Peace,
dave

Thanks for the heads up sir:beer: I will be making a prototype of the test load in the next few days, please stay tuned for pics.

Just a quick note. Flaminpyro sells the same thing for $15

http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-laser-tools-44115.html

His are $15+shipping... The reason mine are $20 was because my price was $15 + the shipping was included ($4.95 USPS priority mail for faster shipping).I can do $13+shipping, your choice of delivery method (maybe lower when I hear back from my supplier). My test load will be able to test different diodes without the need to use jumpers instead mine will offer a 3-way switch and not only test Blu-ray and Red but green/IR as well:D

The easy switching is a good idea.

However, you're going to have to make it "look slicker", make it smaller, and show your soldering.

Since people can build these themselves, you have to give people a reason to just buy yours instead.

This is the kind of workmanship you are going up against. This Rkcstr test load is ~1 x 3/4 inch.

Yes, you have a switch and can set it for 3V, but this level of quality is what people here are used to (if they don't build their own)

That's good advice from Dave..

they would have to be quality, and cheap to get any attention.
