if its intl. shipping(just my opinion) id rather ship priority international which costs about 12$. the shipping is much faster and the p.o. is more willing to find out what happened if the package gets lost. you can ship up to 4lbs in a flat rate prioirty envelope and god knows how many you can fit in a flat rate box.

If you don't go priority international, you may have to wait a long time for your sled AND if anything happens along the way, "Sorry, Sir, but we cannot track parcel post." I ship priority (at least) with signature confirmation even inside the states. If it disappears along the way, they know who had it last. ;) Plus, it's fun to "watch" your package on its way to you.

If you choose to do this, make sure that they are packaged in such a way as to protect them from ESD. Also, there are several cool optics on the sled that you will miss out on. Finally, this should NOT be a free service. It may not be much time or effort, but it IS time and effort.

I read some "may-s" and "if-s", but guess what - The diode itself may not even work, right?

I live in Europe and do not want to pay $12 for shipping. :(

alright, well if this goes down ill have different options. i dont know the whole google checkout thing, never used it, can i link it to my bank like paypal?
ill try to give different shipping options, such as priority or not, and full sled or just diode.
of course if its diode by itself it may be like a dollar or two extra. and how would i protect it from ESD? i dont remember who, but i recall hearing about someone wrapping them in tinfoil. will that work?

yes tin foil does a great job.

just simply make sure the in foil is touching the pins and "shorting" them out


also make sure your grounded with a anti static bracelet

you run that risk even with "working" sleds

She sent the package this morning, as of right now its been dispatched from the sorting center. hopefully itll hop onto a jet soon :]
ive asked her as to why the sleds were bad, waiting for a reply.

its usually b/c they are on the bottom of the stack during shipping and they get slightly crushed. theres usually no problems with the sleds other than something is out of whack and they wont read discs.

good news, if i understand my engrish, the diodes should still be fine:

im pretty sure "photo tube can" means laser diode :D
my package is still in guangzhou or something of the sort, so im not sure when itll get here. i intend to do a detailed inspection of the sled and such.

did you pay for shpping and what service? if they sent it airmail it'll prolly be about 2-3weeks.

actually i didnt pay a cent. they must really be interested in my business, because her boss sent the two samples for entirely free, i didnt even pay for shipping.
and it was sent by ems, she said the three day thing, and contacted me 4 days after it shipped asking if i received them yet. still havent :/

daguin: rocks? oh my that must be a pretty penny in shipping :eek:
