Default Partner for A140 projector

Hey guys, I already bought this but only need half the diodes. Looking for someone who wants the other half. I will receive and dissect the projector removing half the diodes. I will then ship off the other half of the diodes still in the diode heatsink that comes with the projector. Price for these 12 diodes is $$370 shipped. You will need to pay for the paypal fees or send another type of payment. I am not making a dime on this so please don't try to haggle me.

sorry eytyxhs,

Yob is local, and I need a stock of LDs for my upcoming X-Y CNC rig.. I dunno if I'm going to get more than an hour or two out of each diode at the levels I'll be driving them, So I better lay in a stock when the gettings good..

Plus, I'd rather support local industry than going elsewhere, you know..

Well, Like I've said in other topics, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to high power lasers, and my understanding about solid state LDs goes as far as what I know about conventional LEDs.

I was trying to dig up a specsheet for these A140 LDs, the best I could come up with was
http://www.nichia.com/specification/.../NDB7875-E.pdf

I'm going to be driving it with a lab power supply, and in order to get as much output as possible (read: more IPS etching) I wanna see how far I can take these diodes..

Unless I'm missing something, if these behave like common LEDs, you can drive them overspec, but you sacrifice component life. Better to have a stock of diodes as cheap as I can get 'em. I want to see how they behave at 2A, and up to 3A.

This, of course is all entirely dependent on finding a suitable heatsink.. Possibly even TEM cooling.

Or, maybe I'm wrong, and in that case I'll only need one.. Guess I'd be building myself a lot of handhelds

Yeeah, laser diodes are a LOT more sensitive than LED's when it comes to driving them...

They can die very easily even if you just look at them the wrong way

Fro the laser diodes inside of kasi0 projectors, you can usually run them at around 1 - 2 amps, not 3 amps... I could almost guarantee you'd kill it with that much current.

I'd really like to build a blue laser...

Well, I'm not really into throwing away money, but I intend to really test the boundaries..

I figure through empirical experience, I'll find the balance I'm looking for between power output, and LD life..

But then again, I'm a bit of a freak, so what I do, may not be what anyone else would (or should) do.. Heh..

Whatever you do, don't drive them past 1.9 amps. Seriously, Even with a crapload of heatsinking you still have a 90% chance of killing the diode within a few hours.

Run them at 1.6-1.7 amps at the absolute max, that's the only way your going to achieve a lot of power with a long life expectancy.

I know, if you're going to be torturing them, at least send one to me...

Some people don't get to use such beautiful diodes due to our excessively low budget...

It's kind of like seeing people smashing iPhones on the ground when someone they know would very well love to use it...

Indeed.. A few hours..

If I can get the power, a few hours out of each diode can get a lot of work done..

But, if theres a law of diminishing returns thing happening, then I'm shooting for the sweet spot..

I want some diodes onhand to play..

For what its worth, I'm entirely comfortable with a $40 diode lasting for 3 hours of actual etching..

That is, if I can get the output I'm looking for.. And from what I've seen (The 1.8W handheld I bought from Yob) I should easily be able to get the output I'm looking for.

If thats the case, then I'll have a surplus of A140 LDs..

IMO, not a bad thing..

I hear you.. I know what you're saying.. And I agree..

Please understand what I'm doing is simple geek, with the possibility of being able to make money off etching.. I'm doing this as cheaply as I possibly can..

If I have LDs that I'm not going to use, I'll be sure to put them here in F S/T at an appropriate price.. But theres weeks, if not months between here and there..

Oh, no I understand completely. Testing is definitely part of a design process, and occasionally killing a diode accidentally is well, it's gonna happen.

Good luck with your etcher!
How much do you think you'd be selling the laser diodes for? I'm somehow doubting it would be $15
