Thanks for including all of the extra stuff with them! :)

Each one came with the soft case, remote, and cord as well...

P.S. Can anybody explain why the DMM test will tell you that the positive and negative pads on the LED are continuous??

I went ahead and tested the LED even though my DMM tells me that the positive and negative pads are electrically connected and it lit up??

So I guess it's all good. But I just don't understand why my DMM tells me that the positive and negative pads are electrically connected?? :thinking:

I believe, Its because the TEC is made with diodes.

You can cut them, but you have to solder the ends to close the loop.

Yeah it's strange to me is all... I can touch the DMM probes on a normal LED and not get a tone, but on this one, it will tell me that the positive and negative pads are continuous with each other??

The TEC is separate. But I did cut the LED as shown, thinking that maybe once you cut off the plug end of it, that it would be different. But it was the same.

In any case, it works! :)

Wow there really is a bunch of nice optics in there. I think that's the first complete breakdown of one of them I've seen. So much to play with. :)

Jayrob, I've noticed that as the LED die gets larger, the Vf seems to be lower. This may be only a result of current being spread out over the entire die, or it could be only a result of improved materials in the larger-die LEDs, or a combination of both.

Not to mention, at the current that the dmm is using to test continuity, the Vf would be very low anyways.

Could really use some of these :p

So far the only testing I have done, is using a 3 volt lithium primary to make sure the LED is working...

It draws about 2 Amps with a CR123 lithium primary, and is very bright.

But I want to see what it looks like at about 7 Amps or so. :)

So I've got a build started using 2 X 32650 protected Li-Ion's in a Maglite. I'm going to make a nice heatsink for the emitter, and use an aluminum reflector and glass lens because I expect it to get pretty warm...

Just waiting on these awesome SST-90 buck drivers that I ordered to regulate the current...

I was being completely serious. On the bright side, I got some overtime for having to go over there in the ambulance to assist APSI. Only 15 injured, no deaths. It just took out some businesses and a trailer park. Tornadoes love crack heads.

Whats the use of these projectors? apart from the leds ? Where they brand new before they had the diodes stolen from them or some thing?

Yep, brand new. Turned on once for a few seconds... if that.

I'm interested in these for the optics, but have no money. :p

Just got mine yesterday. Very nice and thanks for this DTR!

Are the red LEDs PT-39 or PT-54 LEDs? The Phatlight thread links to a PT-54 LED datasheet. However, from the photos, they look very similar. Unfortunately, the Luminus website has broken the datasheet links, so I can't determine exactly what the markings are.

Can someone measure the board size to determine? The PT-54 has a larger 2.7mm x 2mm board, while the PT-39 has a 2.09mm x 1.87mm board. I'd check myself but I want to keep the heatsink + peltier + lens connected up.

I just measured the rectangular shaped LED and it's about 2.8mm X 2.2mm just by holding the calipers over the window. So I would guess that they are the PT-54 based on the specs you showed...

So what is the max current on this LED. In that link it said 30A in the description and 13.5A in the specs.:thinking:

"623nm 750lm @ 30A"
"Supply Current: 13.5 A"
