Features:
  • Datalogging
  • Power from USB, OR from the included rechargeable Battery
  • Backlit screen, that is visible with 445 protection glasses on
  • It powers the 20C-A with +/- 5V for readings up to 4W

You can just use it as is, or you can put it in some kind of box
There is a usb port under the LCD

Windows Drivers HERE
OSX Drivers HERE
Linux drivers should be included with any modern distro (LIBUSB)

It outputs data in eagle eye format,
So you can use Peregrine
Get it here
Or you can use eagle eye if you already have it (not included)

325$ Shipped to the USA

Interesting. Unfortunately I already have s LPM lined up when this and offroadfreaks LPM went up for sale. Good luck with the sale and hopefully it sells quick for you

Re: Full Ophir LPM, $325 shipped

Major edit,
Now includes ophir head, and a battery

Re: Ophir LPM, $325 shipped

Are you sure it can read up to 4W with 5V power to the Ophir? Ophir datasheets state a 2V overhead is needed, which should mean it can read up to 3W.

Also what's the resolution of your ADC?

Seems like a pretty good deal. I probably spent more than this making my DIY.

What datasheet did you find that in?
I was unable to locate that parameter in the online datasheets I found.

On my meter, I have measured the overhead to be about 0.7 Volts before it starts to become inaccurate

Also what's the resolution of your ADC?.

Its a 16 bit adc,
However due to the common grounding, it is effectively a 15 bit adc.
With my 5v reference, the step size is 150 micro watts.

To eliminate jitter, the result is rounded to the nearest milli watt.

Seems like a pretty good deal. I probably spent more than this making my DIY.

Ya, I haven't done the math, but I doubt I am making any money on this sale...

"With analog “A” version, maximum power is also limited by maximum output voltage where output voltage is at most 2V less than input voltage."

But TBH I never attempted to validate that. Used 10V on mine, just to be safe.

Mine has the same resolution. I usually run Peregrine with oversampling (8 samples average) to reduce jitter - works quite well for me :)

Good luck with the sale!

Re: Ophir LPM, $325 shipped

My Ophir is powered by a 9V wall plug and can only read up to 5W......just saying

Sounds like your doing something wrong,
datasheet says you should be good for atleast 7W
Or are you using a single 9V wall plug? An ophir requires a bipolar supply...

Re: Ophir LPM, $325 shipped

The Rubicon has boost circuitry to generate +/- 12V :p

The +/-5V will be good for appx 3-4.5W depending on the Ophir head, not all heads have the same op amps.

Good to know thanks, That explains the difference between Ophir's rating and my test results. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever go into production with this design.

Can the Rubicon be powered off of usb?
I didn't see that mentioned in your listing.

Also come on a 9 volt battery, what is this 1956? :na:

EDIT:
Oh I see now livinloud was talking about a Rubicon right?
So then the Rubicon should be good for,
at least momentarily like 10 watts right?

It comes with the snap for a 9V battery but also a wall plug. Havent used the 9V snap but it'd be good for portability :D

Rubicon cannot currently be powered from USB alone. The traces on the Arduino nano are tiny.

The reason for not using lithium cells is that if the IC charging the battery fails and results in the battery exploding, it's your responsibility as the manufacturer and you can be sued.

The Rubicon X can do 10W continuously with a heat sink, or shorter measurements without one.

Wish I could sell some stuff to be ale to get this. Really a shame. Looks great. Anyone want a 3.4w Rick Trent? Lol

Re: Ophir LPM, $325 shipped

i bought it :)
cant wait for it to arrive...
but justinjja is since my payment gone from LPF and doesnt reply to me yet :(
got a shipment notification on paypal within like 5 hours after i paid. it said: no shipping company, no tracking number. status: shipped.
i did ask for usps priority so tracking number has to be there...

i waited 3 days and relise he can come back soon, but since the kiyoukan drama im kinda cautious now...
