IF I am too lazy to use my straps, I ground myself by touching the exposed metal on a lamp I have on my workbench...but whenever I handle the diodes, I am WELL grounded !

no. you should touch something thats a complete circuit; like the lamp suggested above. aluminum foil wont be sufficient.

A complete ciruit?

Sorry, Im a noob  :cool:

Touch the exposed, BARE, metal surface of ANYTHING that is plugged into a three pronged outlet using a three pronged cord.

Take a peek at google on occasion - Noob is fine, but lazy is NOT fine !

{Google is a great, online search engine, used to look up definitions of anything under the sun, and over the sun, too ! It can be used to reference part numbers, etc...give it a shot.}

Google knows all. And I mean ALL. Last count, over 1.2 QUADRILLION (10[sup]24[/sup], quadrillion= trillion trillion, trillion= billion billion, billion= million million, million= thousand thousand) items catalogued and something like a pecabyte or two of storage at Google's server farm. Pecabyte= 1024 Terabytes, Terabyte= 1024 Gigabytes. :D :D :D

Anyway, yeah. Not just something metal but the chassis or bare (not painted) metal frame of something plugged in, with 3 pins NOT 2.

lol ... figures a number like quadrillion is 10 to the 24. 1024. Like, 2[sup]9[/sup] ;)

No offence or anything, im not that into lasers, I just want one to fool around with, and plus, i would only use it outdoors, and places with no places to reflect.

Then you should definitely not be building a burning laser to "fool around" with. They can be VERY dangerous if you dont know what your doing. Go buy a $3.00 Wal-Mart laser. Those are pretty safe to just "fool around" with.
