No longer selling these... Please read this:
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1231511226/0

But I am selling DIY Build Kits & Heatsinks! See here: http://www.sonic.net/~jayrob/MXDL/

A sweet, tiny little build!

They are a tight, tedious build. Actually harder than my Pocket Mini builds.

Figure a setting of about 130mA's to give (normally) 115mW's of blu-ray with the 803T diode for about a 45 minute run time between charges.

For red, 180mA's will give you about 115mW's using the Sony/Senkat SLD1239JL-54 diode. This will give about 30 minutes run time. (burns plenty good at this power!)

Then there's the option of a 6X diode, set at 180mA's for a 30 minute run time. When Igor does the GB on his 405nm glass lenses fit for the AixiZ, this current will give over 200mW's of blu-ray! Here's Igor's lens comments/thread: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1212842385/700#705

Here are some other detailed pictures of the build as well as links to the batteries and charger:

This little key chain light at Lowe's is made from a solid piece of brass! It is very heavy, but very small.

Here's the host:

I managed to get a FlexDrive inside there for an 803T blu-ray build! Here are the pictures...

I found that the stock, 'stacked' button cell batteries were not enough to run a FlexDrive...

The answer was to use a 3.6 volt Lithium 10180 battery.

These batteries are 90mAh... With this in mind, I chose the highest efficiency PHR diode that I could find to keep the current as low as I could and still have good power!

117mW's @ 117mA's! :)

That should give at least 45 minutes run time, or more per charge...

Here's the batteries:
http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=187951

Here's the charger:
http://www.powerstream.com/licoin-charger.htm

I shortened the spring on the tail cap just a little, because the 10180 is longer than the 3 stacked button cells that came with the host.

The only other thing that I did, was to bypass the little button circuit on the stock board to make it a momentary button switch...

It had some kind of little circuit that allowed it to be a constant on / off switch, but this did not work with the FlexDrive, so I just bypassed the circuit...
Jay

Update!
Igor had the idea of possibly drilling out the tail cap to fit a longer battery for more capacity...

Great idea Igor! Now there is room for a 10280 (180mAh), which is twice the capacity of a 10180! :D

Re: Key Chain Laser - With FlexDrive! (Blu-ray or

Well, I just wasn't sure of the charging current of that charger... It doesn't say on the site.

I have this PowerStream coin cell charger and I know it works good. A 1C charge rate will be a maximum of 90mA's current for charging this 10180 battery. Which is 90mAh. (this is the rule for charging all lithium batteries)

Many CR123 chargers will charge at too high of a charge rate for the tiny 10180. This would not be good for the battery...

Did the Nano charger that you mentioned come with any documentation?

Awesome build.

Check out DX SKU 2523

I think this would make a great host too.(Not a keychain-too big)
It measures 4.105'' in length, and .785'' in diameter.

I have the 20mW one. It is really solid. It weighs 117g. (4.125oz) without the battery and battery cap.

I like the build you did with the Cree too. I just really like having a push-button as apposed to a clicky switch.

I saw that DX key chain laser... it looks pretty cool!

Quite a difference in size though... It takes a CR2 battery, which is 15.6mm X 27mm long.

This Key Chain host is only 14.9mm. Smaller in diameter than a CR2 battery!  :) Very solid as well. Brass construction...

'Cree build'? You must be talking about my Pocket Mini:
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1226875831/0

It is very small too! The diameter of the host is 20.8mm. But this 'Key Chain' build is down right tiny!

Just in case some one got this and was wondering about my charger it charges the tiny bats at 4.2V 0.45A output into bats, you need a spacer though. I dont know if thats safe for it but it works well for me!

That's a perfect charge current fot the 90mAh 10180 battery...

Good information. Thanks for posting that!

those batteries really are the awesomest batteries. I've found sooo many button cell things that this goes into...
