Woe... $25 bucks? They ship to me for $10 bucks. So, the total is $35. Or, $37 with the 5.6mm adapter. I just checked the shipping for a small item like that to the Netherlands... it's $3 bucks. Netherlands right?

If you want, I can send you one, I have a Meredith acrylic in my stock. Do you need the 5.6mm adapter?

Brazil :P.I don't know, what is it for?Do I need it to be able to use the acrylic lens in my glass lens build?
Edit:Just checked on their website,I don't think I need it,do I?

It just lets you burn better. As an example, you could surely get a black tipped match to light at 10' with the Meredith glass lens. You would be able to light it at 20' with an acrylic. But for beam visibility in smoke or fog, the glass lens is better!

I meant the 5.6mm adapter .Or it places the lens better so the acrylic can burn better? :-?

Oh...no you don't need the adapter just for changing lenses, but if you ever made a laser, you could use it. And still be able to swap lenses...

Wish I had a video camera.....last night I started my Weber BBQ with the MXDL (put a black match tip on the coals for effect), also did the match trick and popped a balloon at 30' for the neighbors enjoyment. Maybe it's the thick air we have here in Los Angeles....but I am very impressed with how visible the beam is at night.
Your welcome! Good to know that it is performing well for you. You have the 'top notch' build there IMO. The Meredith acrylic lens with the FlexDrive option....My personal red burner is the exact same! 8-) Just watch the duty at that power...

I decided today to discover what is the max distance I can light a match from with the glass build, using a tripod I was able to do it 23ft away .And I didn't try from farther because there was no more space where I was doing it,but lighting it from that distance was hard,my guess is that I won't be able to do it from more than 25ft,but it's really not bad,I'm imagining with the acrylic lens

Woe! That's very good distance! You must be very good at getting focus. How long did it take to light a match at that distance? I got a 20' match light using a similar build (but acrylic lens)...in less than 3 seconds!

It took about 6 seconds, the dot was pretty big,but still enough to ignite it(it was about 1.5 times the size of the match tip).
Edit:You should try from farther,I think you can manage to light a match from at least 30',probably more ;D

Just to let you know, your Meredith acrylic lens is on it's way to you...

Hey Steven, I got your build done! I will have it in tomorrow's mail. (Tuesday) I put a tiny dot of white paint to mark the 5' focal point.

I think you chose great options for your $175 dollar build!

Keeping the cost down by using the AixiZ module, but still getting the awesome FlexDrive option...

Please get back to me to let me know that you received it, and how you like it!

Just to let everybody know, I got these little stickers from Senkat (thanks Greg!). I have to cut them to fit 'flat places' on the MXDL. I have been putting them on the builds that ship with-in the U.S. (no customs to worry about) If you like the look, and you are not in the U.S., I can still just include the sticker...folded up in the paperwork, and you can cut it and put it on.
Jay

Good deal Steve! I like to put the little 5' focal point mark, because it is a good reference point. I do this on the acrylic lens builds, and the AixiZ glass. I don't mark the Meredith glass lens builds, because the focus on those lenses are so 'touchy', that there is really not much room to play with. It's pretty much just leave it at the best focus. (for me anyway)

If you don't have the proper goggles, I wouldn't look at the dot much...trying to get focus. At that power, just looking at the dot too long can harm your eyes. One way is to use smoke. If you have smoke, you can see the beam. The narrowest part of the beam, is the tightest focal point!

The hosts were shipped on 6/25. I am expecting them any day now... I have your heatsink made, diode mounted, and FlexDrive ready! It will only be an hour or so to set the driver and do my testing/labeling and pictures. I'll keep you posted!

Cool avatar by the way...

Hoka hey...been lurking around here for a few and starting to really get the jones for a quality unit. You seem to be a well respected member of this group with the necessary skills and supplies to provide exceptional quality at reasonable prices. What can you recommend in the 150$-200$ range that will blow my socks off? Not sure I know enough yet to make any definite choices as far as component choices, so I would like to hear your recommendations as far as quality and value based choices in the previously mentioned price range. Thanks in advance, please feel free to offer any tips or advice as well as flames to this most humble of newbies
