Hi

I've 3 units of Newport 505B/501B Laser Diode Drivers for sale.
These power up but I am unable to test it fully. You need to *repair* them but I will sell them a fraction of what they normally cost:
If you good at electronics; maybe you can fix them yourself.

Details and Specs can be found below:
http://www.newport.com/store/genproduct.aspx?id=316767&lang=1033&Section=Spec

The Newport 505B/501B is a Laser Diode Driver, 50/100/200/500 mA
Priced at US$1639 when new

***If you buy one, please make sure that the mains power voltage is set to the area you are in. Currently, they are set at 240 VAC for Singapore. You can easily change this by setting it on the back of the unit.***

Here are some photos:

The Manual can be downloaded here:

Unit C 505B: US$80 + Shipping: (a bit dirty cosmetically)

Using a precision current driver is much safer than brute current drivers. The units also support the Photo Diode sensor that are built into many LD. You can drive the LD either via constant current mode or constant power mode. You can use external modulation. There is a safety key lock for safety and the output a driven from the back using a serial connector. Download the manual to check out all the functions.

Shipping will be using UPS or Fedex or any other reliable courier service provider. You can actually calculate the shipping cost for yourself using UPS or Fedex online website. Weight is around 5 Kg. Original shipping location is Singapore, postal code 730539.

Please PM me if you are interested and also your country and postal code for me to calculate shipping cost.

Thanks for looking!!

Hi

The output comes out from the back of the device via the serial port. (RS-232 port I think)

There are connections for the LD and the photodiode sensor and a safety interlock. (check the manual)

You can set the current limit on the panel or connect the device via USB to a computer for computer control.

Thanks!

I think he means how does it output , since you say it's broken, what is the output on them like.

Re: Newport 505B Series Laser Diode Drivers for Sa

actually, I don't know .....

I may be building a small load to test but that will take a bit of time.
based on the specs, here are the pin assignments:

pin 1
pin 2
short 1 and 2 to enable laser output
pin 3: Chassis ground
pin 5: LD cathod
pin 6: Photo Diode (+)
pin 7: Photo Diode (-)
pin 9: LD Anode (-)

For the 505B, the current output should be 0 - 500 mA
For the 501B, the current output should be 0 - 100 mA

Of course, these are what they SHOULD be outoutting when they are fixed. I don't know how much they are actually outouting until I build a test load..

Thanks!

Hi Guys

Need some cash during this turbulent times...

Units are now US$50/-.
Think of the casing, the electronics, the stuff you get from it. It was US$1600+ when NEW!

Like I said, it powers up but I just do not have the time to troubleshoot them.

Price does not include shipping :)
