Re: 5mW 405nM $9 on eBay

did you get a shipping notice,? any acknowledgments of your order?
i got jack?
Nope. I sent him an email yesterday asking if it was shipped yet and he never replied. The seller lived in LA and I am in San Diego though so it's only like a 2 hour drive, so shipping should be faster.

Re: 5mW 405nM $9 on eBay

I just got mine in the mail and the green one is nice but the 405nm does have horrible divergence (I think). When I look at it on the wall, it looks like a bunch of little dots. I'll take a picture. Maybe mine is messed up. Maybe there is a way to focus it better? It bothers your eyes when you look at the dot even from across the room(the green doesn't). It's hard to focus on the dot without noticing all the purple around it. I think it might be the same as the green, you just notice the surrounding light more. That is my Noob opinion.

The same thing happens to me, I think its just because of the wavelength it fluoresces(?) causing the blurry dot idk how. But there are a few things like wood or unglossy black objects it doesnt do this for. It has the same host as the overspec greens for sale here

I think if u go to the "won" section of ur ebay account there will be a tracking number next to the item

Re: New Stock of Overspec 5mW Green

If I received my last order a week ago, and they were both afflicted with the dimming issue, can I still send them back for a replacement from the new batch? Because of the dimming, I haven't really used them much, so you don't have to worry about me having put a lot of mileage on the diode.

Thanks.

Thanks! I hadn't noticed that. Looks like mine is on the way from Baton Rouge. Can't wait to tear into it to see what can be done with that diode ;)

Re: 5mW 405nM $9 on eBay

Yeah I don't know if it's not focused or what. I am going to order another one to compare. A guy I know had a Flip Ultra HD camera that costs like $150 at the store and I gave him 30 bucks and that laser for it. I still have the green one. Haha. Kinda shitty of me. But I told him it isn't focused right or something and he said it's cool, he just likes how it turns blue when you shine it on white clothing. (I told him not to shine it in eyes. He's not an idiot. I think.. :])

Re: 5mW 405nM $9 on eBay

I picked up 10 of these. The divergence is "normal" for a 405nm fixed-focus pen laser.

Nine out of the 10 metered at 40-50mW. One metered at 57mW

Peace,
dave

You sure you're talking about the same ones? The beam was barely visible and they are only supposed to be 5mW. You obviously know more than I do about lasers but maybe... Idk  Could you send me a link to the sellers eBay page? The one I got would have a 6 inch - 1 foot diameter dot at 50 feet (actually looked like multiple tiny dots) Mine must have been screwed up.

Wow . . . .

Yes. I am talking about the same ones

The link is in the OP. I just clicked on the link.

Peace,
dave

Do you honestly think that I spent almost $100 and wrote this post just to screw with you?

And none of yours had the horrible divergence that mine had? Just my luck.
Also, I forgot about the link. I just assumed that you searched 405nm laser on eBay because there are a bunch of sellers selling them. Sorry.

You can probably fix the divergence if you can get to the lens. Most of these diode lasers have an adjustable lens and yours probably got knocked lose during shipping.

Re: 5mW 405nM $9 on eBay

Well my friend now has that laser so I decided not to mess around with it. Don't want to break it. But if any of you guys ever need to mess with the lens on yours and you know for sure it works then I'll try it out with his. Just ordered another one for myself, hopefully it doesn't have the same problem. If it looks the same then I'm just gonna assume that there was never anything wrong with the first one and I'm an idiot. ;]
