Advance notice:
If you are a laser perfectionist and looking for a high-performance laser with the exceptional beam specs or the option of upgrading to an RPL laser in the future; then this Barebones laser is not for you.
Output stability, duty cycle, divergence and beam shape will not be at the RPL level our customers are use to. (it's a "barebones" laser where low cost is the top priority.)

The following terms apply to the Barebones laser products.

1. Standard warranty is reduced to 3 months. (still this is 2 months longer than the DX)
2. Barebones lasers do NOT qualify for the Optotronics Laser Upgrade Program.
3. Barebones lasers will not undergo our 6hr+24hr burn-in test process; however they will undergo a shorter burn-in period and pass a 3 minute trending power test with output recorded in the instruction documentation. (2-photos, one of 3 minute trend & one of trend statistics will be provided by email (+$10 extra).
4. Laser specs will be less stringent than our RPL, divergence will match those of the deal extreme "firepoint" series' 1.0-1.2mrad spec.
5  Duty cycle is only guaranteed to be that which DX includes in their published specs.
6. These do not qualify for any special discounts or bonuses that are offered on our RPL lasers.
7. All warranty repairs are manufacturer warranties and are handled directly between the buyer and manufacturer in China, not by or through Optotronics directly.
8. Barebones lasers include battery charger, and battery (padded carrying case is $10.00 extra).
9. This product will not bear the Optotronics or RPL name, only our true RPL products of highest quality & performance will proudly wear the Optotronics/RPL name.

Prices for pre-ordering (item ships to you within 2-3 weeks of payment or you get a free 55mW if item doesn't ship within 3 weeks time even if the delay is beyond our control).
With a pre-order, you save money, but don't get it as fast; you save, because it's being built on your dime, not ours.
Pre-order shipping time promise is subject to change in the future depending on demand, but you always get locked in on the promised delivery period listed here or on our website.
We're still working on the web page, so if you want to order, just contact us using the contact form on our website with your order and we can send you an e-invoice from PayPal or google checkout (additional 1.0% discount if using google checkout).

Introductory Special:
LPF forums members also get a free 30mW green laser included with their Barebones order. (Only a 7-day warranty on the free 30mW).

Pre-ordered- barebones 300mW 532nm $670  ( This price includes free world wide priority shipping).
Pre-ordered- barebones 325mW 532nm $770  ( This price includes free world wide priority shipping).
Pre-ordered- barebones 350mW 532nm $870  ( This price includes free world wide priority shipping).

Extra Options:
Padded carrying case  (+$10.00)
Trend data and statistics photos emailed  (+$10.00)
Use of Google Checkout ( 1% discount on total price)
I want it cheap! and don't need any 30mW freebie (-$20.00)
I want it even cheaper! and don't need much warranty, reduce warranty to 30 days (-$60.00)

(edited to clarify items and add options to save even more).

No deadlines on pre-order dates, you can pre-order at any time.
This is not an open ended offer, the barebones program can end at any time depending on it's popularity, or prices change depending on market conditions.

Barebones Blue laser pricing will be listed below on this page soon as well as perhaps pricing on lower power barebones green units.

That looks like some pretty sweet deals there. If you're going to buy a cheap quality laser you may as well buy it from a tried and true company :)

I would recommend a real RPL either way. Less hassle in the long run.

Sorry Jack, but you got a shot in my post, and I get a shot in yours:

An alternative for anyone who wishes is over here: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1213928982

I'm selling the same lasers with 2.5W n-light diodes for pretty much the same price but on better terms. I will include a power graph/certificate, burn-in testing will be conducted, and in-warranty repairs are free.

If you're interested, my preorder does end in a few days, but I will be ordering a few extras so I may even have some in-stock units if you're interested just send me a PM ;).

(sidenote: If you're gunna buy a unit in any case, at least buy from me or Jack, not DX. I honestly feel I'm offering a distinctly better deal than opto here, but Jack's offer isn't bad either and either option will save you from purchasing from a piece of crap untested laser from DX of questionable quality)

PS: Jack, are these barebones units using the 2.5 or 2.0W pump BTW?

Re: NEW: Optotronics Barebones-RPL (the DX-buster)

It's not really an RPL-300 for $680. It's the RPL's cheap half-bred cousin for $680 :)

In my opinion, the RPL is still the best deal if you can afford it, it'll be much better than the barebones one. These aren't meant to be a substitute for the RPL's, just a cheaper alternative :)

Hi Murudai,
You're right. This will save us a lot of time as well as reduce our "out of spec return rate" to virtually zero as not only will we offer our pre-ordered barebones at this cost, but it will also us to sell off any regular RPLs that would otherwise not meet the Optotronics RPL quality standards and be rejected and returned, to be sold as a barebones laser if it still meets the lower DX specs.
