They come as bare diodes... and the best way to collimate the beam, and one that most of us here use, is to use the AixiZ module because it's cheap and made to fit.

I have a Question....

Why is everyone acting like this diode cant harm your eyes, skin, people?

This diode when used as LASER BEAM can really do some damage.

Im not trying to be Mr. Safety or anything.... Just USE the Diode and Knowledge Wisely.

I don't think anyone here discounts the fact these can be dangerous. This thread is for the discussion of buying the diodes, not safety. If you read in the Safety topic, and other places in this forum, you will know we are all well aware of the dangers.

By no means is anyone saying that they are not harmful! These things can blind you instantly! They even burn my skin almost instantaneously! These diodes are really powerful, so ya... common sense not only applies without saying, but it also is vigorously and rightfully enforced.

hey everyone, i just signed up as well. i'm working on building the Laser Flashlight Hack as seen over at instructables, and these forums. so far, i've destroyed 3 brand new dvdrw drives in the process of extracting the diodes, and haven't had a good one yet :-/
