I may take a 20K set, but I have no idea how scanners work. I've read basics about them, but I'm a little confused as to how to control them. I don't want this thread to turn into a help section but, can anyone answer me 1 or 2 simple questions? What exactly is DMX? Also, I read somewhere in the Laser Shows sections that the SP20s come with a cheap DAC (I'm not sure exactly what a DAC is)? Does that mean that I can hookup the scanner to my computer w/o the $40 Dr. Lava DAC correction thing?

Thanks in advance for any help. I mostly just want the scanners for a wave liquid sky effect, but I would also love to do other effects if possible, and hopefully for cheap.

Hi,

They are 2 different kits. The SCANPRO is quite a bit more expensive, and we do not sell a DMX board to go with it.

We should have these new ones up on the store by the end of the weekend

Hi,

DMX is a control format used to control intelligent lighting.

This new 20k kit is very similar to the scanpro20's, in that it comes with the DMX board to allow you to get started with nothing else needed than the scanners and a laser.

And yes, these will work with various computer DAC's :)

on the 30lsp ones it says "Also available: DMX player board to suit set. Please message for more details. " is there a dmx board

ok thanks i think i will wait for some one to review it before i buy it.
are the ebay picture from the dmx board

Old(ish) thread, but no, the pics on the eBay page are I believe from a Pangolin QM200 DAC. The DMX board has a few graphics/text images on there, but they are mainly for beam shows, and you will need a real DAC if you want to be able to do anything custom with it :)

BTW, anyone worried about Dave's rep etc, I can tell ya now he's one heck of a stand up guy, happy to help :)
