Your batteries should already be charged. I usually(if I remember to :p) charge them up before I send them out so they are ready to use when you get them.

Well then my next challenge will be waiting for 25 minutes after sunset haha.

You don't happen to know the divergence on the laser by any chance do you? Trying to get a sense of it's hazard distance. I assume since its a 445 it's going to be >1.3mr...

I honestly do not know the divergence off hand. You may be able to find it somewhere knowing that yours is using the standard 3-element lens and an M140 diode.

Either my eyes are very different from the normal person's eyes or the CIE numbers aren't right because vs. my 131mW 532nm opto pointer, this laser is just incredibly bright and thick. (FYI I have the 1.5W)

Lol it should be dude. The laser I sold you is 1500mW so in raw output it is 10x that if your 532nm.

I'm just saying that the CIE tables say that technically you need 1800mW of 445 to match up to 131mW of green at 532... I'm looking at this beam and that's clearly way wrong lol.

Different people's vision varies greatly. We have talked about this here before. My vision is far more sensitive to 445nm light than tables such as that suggest and others have said the same thing. To my vision, my 300mW 532nm laser is roughly equivalent to 1.4W of 445nm dot wise but the beam is easily 10X brighter on the 445nm. The drastically brighter beam is due to Rayleigh scattering.

I use a device called an LPM(Laser Power Meter) to measure the exact output on my lasers. Super high output(2W+) lasers are quite rare but it isn't overly uncommon for them to hit 1.8W using a 3-element lens.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear in what I was asking. I know how you determine the output of the laser once it is completed, but what I was wondering is what makes you decide what that output will be. I know that you can determine how much power you get in the end by adjusting the Amps on the driver. How do you decide that one laser will be 1.3W and another will be 1.8W? Or is it that you don't make that decision at all and that they are set to the number of Amps and the power output is what it is when it is completed.

I test each diode's efficiencies at varying currents and find their peak performance and then run them at that peak. The goal is the most output with the lowest input and lowest heat production which means the diodes live longer and runtimes can be longer.

I will be making more when my parts arrive. It is difficult to say when right now but I hope it is soon.

I received my batteries 6 days ago.
I don't understand why 18350 batteries are needed instead of 16340.
These are longer so when I put them in and screwed the tailcap fully down it presses on batteries negative end. Negative ends of batteries collapse a bit therefore my chargers negative end doesn't contact and needs a spacer :)

It takes more than 18 hours to charge one of these 18350 batteries with my charger. :) I think it is a slow charger !

I'll make a review whenever I have the batteries charged. :)

I tried to burn a white paper when these batteries have 3,8V charge both and not successful about it :(
It is strong on black and dark materials for sure.

You need to wait some more for the batteries to be charged. I need a charger that charges 2 batteries at a time immediately :)

18350 cells are not needed instead of 16340. I only said these lasers are capable of using them. Also, batteries vary slightly in diameter and length especially with lower quality cells.

Charge times are entirely dependent on the charger you bought which is out of my hands in this case. You may want to look into getting a 1A charger if you are concerned with charge times since that would put your charge time at a little over an hour.

Burning white paper is a whole different task in itself. It goes right down to the physics of light and the effects of different color surfaces. You need far greater density of power to burn white paper than to burn black. A G2 lens will boost your lasers power significantly as well as allow for quite improved close range focus for burning.

In the middle of typing this I did however burn the crap out of some white pieces of paper using a standard 3-element lens and the one remaining 1.4W Black Ice I have for sale. I burned all the way through three sheets in just over a second. You only need to get used to focusing well.

I am a bit strange guy who wants his laser to burn through without focusing :D
I can burn white paper even with a 100mW green by focusing.
I'll make better tests in a few days.
It took 24 hours to charge a battery. This is crazy :san:

I also want to ask if you test this 2.1W laser while the batteries have lower capacity. Some drivers give constant current until the batteries end.Do you have any idea how does the driver you use behave?
