Default Neodymium magnets

Hey, first time iv posted in BST for a non-laser item but I figure people here may have uses for magnets.

I am looking to buy a couple disk magnets. Hopefully N52. Around 1.5inch-2inch diameter and 1 inch thick. Hoping for a pull force of around 200 lbs.

Anyone have any? Or does anyone know of a canadian based company that sells these? I have found a couple site but they were all too small.

Thanks.

X's 2???

More Expensive but might be what you want

Be careful that is a VERY strong magnet and could really hurt you if your not careful. In fact if you have something metal above your head it might smack into your head and knock you out.

I used to keep my computer case open, and an n52 brick nearby just in case, back in college. I have no idea what happened to the magnet though, probably stuck somewhere

I don't think most people realize just how strong these things are, was definitely a rude awakening when it pinched my finger.

Nope, but I did use an old safe, and set it up to act as a burn box. For a short amount of time I actually used extension IDE cables and had the drives in the box. Had it setup, if the lid of the safe was ever actually closed... boom

That level of paranoia was not healthy...

If I wasn't already moving my hand away... I think I probably would have had a broken bone at least. As it was some skin was scraped off over the top of my pinkie, and the tissue under my nail was very badly bruised... nail fell out. Completely back to normal now, but that incident definitely taught me to respect magnets.

hasnt it been proven that magnets are more or less pointless to use on a hard drive since you would need one hell of a magnet. like mri magnetic field type strong. i mean they have pretty strong magnets in the hard drive enclosure

They're surrounded by pretty thick metal plates, often rich with nickel.

The Nd magnet I have can quite effectively destroy data on a hard drive. So, it has been proven quite the contrary...
