Hiya folks,

As most of you know, my proof of concept was finished not long ago, regarding my own boost converters.

I decided to simply use it in every one of my builds (well, as much as possible).

However, I am in lack of source for main beating heart of my drivers, the LM3410X chip itself.

So far, I have found great sources for all other components:
Schottky SMD diodes:
1N5818M SMD 1 AMP 30V SCHOTTKY DIODES Free Mailing - eBay (item 380144597969 end time Feb-25-10 21:26:15 PST)

I can order inductors needed from coilcraft for not too expensive price (I do not think they exceed $2.50 a piece),

And I am yet to see if these fit:
COILCRAFT 33UH SMD INDUCTORS (50 pcs) - eBay (item 180260843151 end time Mar-24-10 22:23:02 PDT)

And I have whole bunch of resistors and SMD caps needed.

However, finding a decent distributor sucks big time, when it comes to 3410.
Not a single offer on 3410 on ebay, what.so.ever

I have gone through every one of offered distributors of National,
Digikey and Arrow are only ones offering 1+ pieces of distributing (all others are minimum 1000pcs reel)
Digikey wants 30$ for shipping, Arrow is out of stock.
Future electronics seems suitable, but they do not accept any kind of payment except credit card directly.
And RS electronics even have a Croatian distribution... but 26kn (5$ ) a piece is simply too much.

So!
I need help finding some LM3410X in 5 pin SOT-23 packaging, 1.6MHz ones, in quantities like, 10 pcs at a time, with reasonable pricing.

Thanks for efford in advance!

Newark and Digikey have them. Mouser doesn't appear to, though.

It would probably be easier to have someone purchase these and reship to you from the US since most companies probably use UPS/FedEx/DHL, which is expensive. Meanwhile, you could instead have them shipped via USPS, which is cheap and would probably have less import fees.

I use DigiKey almost exclusively... but I buy in minimum
quantities of 100pc and 1000pc.

You seem to be discovering that small quantity production
can be quite expensive....

Hey this old thread became alive overnight :D

Kendall, thanks for the info, I am looking it up now.
rkcstr, Digikey asks for $30 in USPS shipping, which is I believe cheapest one available... whatta bugger, eh?

@ Jerry, yeah I see already... but it is not even that much of a problem, it is that 90% of all companies DO NOT accept paypal through anymeans at all...

Now I gotta leave my credit card number on the internet one more, which I do not like, neither me nor my mum (who own the credit card BTW hehe :D )

I go check out Kendall's links now... :D

RS Components have them too (code component for the Italian page is 517-258, i'm not sure if for other countries they change codes, sorry), but RS is surely not cheap (not here in Italy, at least) with shipping, handling and prices in general .....

Edit: i have found this page in Czeck (hope i wrote it correctly), and the code is the same ..... for some reason my system seem unable to find any page in Croatian, sorry (but is probably just cause my keyboard don't have the needed letters) ..... anyway, perhaps that also changing the country, the part code remain the same .....

RS does have a Croatian branch (I wrote it in main post), but they want around $5 for a piece, plus shipping.
Ridiculous.

Thanks for the efforts, though! ;)

OOPS , right, sorry, my fault.

Other the ones that you have already mentioned, i only found Newark (this page), that perhaps have no minimum quantity, but the price is still high, for low quantities, and i know nothing, about this particular reseller, sorry.

Newark is great! I bought tons of stuff from them for my senior design project where I built a MIDI controller in a laser harp. Newark shipped everything very quickly and I got all the parts I ordered.

one of my partners playing jingle bells on the harp.

I believe they are based out of New Jersey, USA.

You can order a debit card from PayPal then use that as a credit card and it will pull from your Paypal balance. You also get 1% cashback doing it that way :)

I have no paypal balance, things work different in Croatia, but basically I get yoru idea and it would work.

However that still means sending a credit card number through a wireless network with 200 users... lotsa script kiddies around here these days, you know...

I really appreciate the advice and I will most likely order from Newark,
However, Bill offered to resell (or reship) at the same price he buys them...

I coult take up on his offer and pay him a little extra every time he ships them to me. That way I will pay him back for at least some of goodies he sent me .
