NDB7242E 445nm diodes Price drop

OK guys so after my group buy I did for the NDB7242E diodes I went ahead and grabbed extra and now it’s time to sell them :P

Note the manufacturing date on them O_O
I was hoping to wait and sell these after we had a comparison to the PL450 Single mode diode. But the guy that was going to do the test smoked his :( and I don’t have the spare cash to get one myself.

These are Multi mode 50mW 445nm diodes
I can say however these diodes have a very similar beam profile to the Osram PL515 30mW diodes.
As seen in my test using a standard 3 element I measured the divergence of these diodes at .38 mRad.

I even displayed at selem these diodes having a tighter divergence and narrower beam than my lasever 473.
Diodes are $25 Shipped CONUS

I also have 4 of these drivers for sale
They retail on Meredith Instruments for $50

They are 4.5-6VDC input.
10 to 1500mA Output.
these drivers also have 2 test points for current monitoring with a volt meter.
.1mV = 1mA of drive current.
25$ shipped CONUS

Lastly After a long search for absorption style IR filters I finally found some and got a bulk of them.

These Are Hoya Optics brand 7mm Diameter filters with AR coatings on both sides.

Re: Diodes Drivers and filters O my

For anyone wondering: yes, those diodes really diverge that little. Mine was comparable to the best 532 I have, and I would dare to call it better. Its also noticeably violet- my osram single mode diode looked bright, sky blue in comparison.

Re: 50mW 445nm diodes and others

Bump. Really no interest ?
These would be perfect for a pen host.

Re: 50mW 445nm diodes and others

Bump again with an update
People were wondering how high you could push these. found this on PL from Junktronix

- The spec sheet says these are multimode, but the uncollimated output is nice and Gaussian and the collimated beam is a spot rather than a line - no anamorphics needed!
- It's very unlikely that I'll get more of these.
- I tested the diodes at 100mA where they produced 50-60mW. I tested one unit at higher current and was seeing 200mW at a bit over 200mA. I ran it as high as 300mA without damage. YMMV, of course and I'm only guaranteeing that these will meet the specs in the spec sheet (i.e. 50mW @ <125mA)

Bump 4 diodes left and still plenty of filters
Edit: also i can drop diodes to $30 even

I finally got around to doing a build with one of these diodes. I decided to run this one softly at ~100mA, which gives me 60mW after acrylic lens.

First thing I noticed was that this diode is definitely lower in wavelength than your typical 450nm LDs...I'll try to get some spectro readings on it.

Also, the divergence is incredible!! This laser keeps a remarkably small beam over distance. I'll try to get some divergence measurements also.

I got 10 more diodes coming soon.

I may take one, possibly two, on Friday when I get paid - if they are still available.

Thanks!

these should sell pretty quickly! I may take one next week

Yea I've had then for a year I don't thing they will go any where :san:

I wish, most people don't have interest in low power any more. I still wanna see a pen style laser made with one of these.

Hi,
I have the same diode in a copper Sinner host the beams are tight and the WL is great for a small pen style host. Some pics of this diode in a copper pen..
