Default maybe FS? LOC Red laser

Thinking about selling my LOC laser i made.
the laser is LOC harvested from an LG 22x dvd burner, using a rckstr's micro drive set at 420mA.
has a heatsink on the inside just fashioned by myself, it's all inside a coleman max LED host that i sanded down to a polished down with fine sand paper (exhausting!).
Laser is powered by 2x CR2 batteries.

the driver and diode are 3 days old, i harvested the diode and assembled the driver myself, diode was harvested by using the sererated edge of my work utility scissors to saw through the heat sink till i was almost to the diode, then using a pair of pliers on both side and twisting the heatsink untill the diode fell out.
and to remove the board from the diode i gripped the board with a pair of tweezers, and using a droplet of heated solder on my soldering iron i made contact with all three prongs melting the solder on the board, and simply sliding the board off of the diode, took no more than 2 or 3 seconds to remove the board.
I can't verify it's mW output because i don't have a meter, but the driver is putting out about 421 mA according to rckstr's dummy load, and it lights matches and burns anything black instantly.
here is a link to a picture of what the host originally looks like (before i sanded it down.)
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=10196614
and picture of the actual Laser.

if your interested send me an offer, i'd also take trades depending on what your offering (i don't want to trade for another laser though).
here is a picture of it.

oh, and my hands are so dirty because i spent almost 3 hours sanding that thing down to a nice shine!, it's a combination of dust from the grey paint from the host and the sand paper wearing down

Are those washers on the head of the laser ?
Washers are a big no no. Since there steel, they actually hold the heat in, more then it would dissipate it.
Look for aluminum or copper for better heat sinking results.

Yeah their washers.. The longest I've had it on is 1 minute so I figure its doing more good than bad. Its only set at 380mA. Its mainly for looks as I think it would look silly with half the module sticking out.. Thx though... Sorry to take over your thread, Mohrenberg. I hope you sell it.

whats in the head of the host then? if your using the 2xCR2 it should fit inside, if you rip out the plastic partition and make your own....

mine is the entire module, with the module itself acting as the grn, which goes through the heatsink, through the host and down to the clicky, and the LD is at the end of the module

i made up my phr module that way too, so i guess if i wanted i could just pull the module out, and slide my phr in and i'd have a blue laser in the same host in about 10 seconds, but i am under voltage.

i'm going to trying buying the same flashlight but the one that takes AA, it's the same but with a longer handle, maybe be able to fit 3xCR2 in it, then i could just pop the modules in and out depending on what laser i want to play with.

Yeah, I didnt take out the plastic part.. I soldered where the resistor used to be on the original PCB. and trimmed the pcb to about half so the aixiz would fit somewhat.. I then "wrapped" the excess wire around the pcb. The way you did it was a better way. Thats a good idea the way you used the top of the battery for a contact, did you just solder the + to it? Also if you were going to have exchangeable heads you would also need to turn the batteries around. (that is if you are using a blu-ray diode)

yeah the + cable from the drive is coming out the end of the module and soldered onto the bttom of that metal cap.

i don't understand what you mean about turning the batteries around, my phr is made the exact same way, so the + and - are in the same spot, i would just pull out the module for the red diode and put the module with the phr in it's place.
but this host is only supplying 6v so it's underpowered....maybe it will work if DX ever ships my new batteries
