Since someone already bumped this i might as well say. Thank T-Mart your laser exceeded my expectation. Advertised as 100mw, but 30mw with most of it IR. Wow that's great. not

Are any of the green kaleidoscopic ones actually above 100mW? In the reviews it seems even the 200mW is actually about 50mW. I can't complain of the prices; I'm looking to buy a cheap, fun but powerful green, but it seems the powers are very overstated.

Like the "100mW gun kaleidoscopic green" ... someone says the package insert from manufacturer states a 20mW, so definitely some overstatements going on. No offense to them, but the on-site reviews seem to be in the same broken english style and as posted about before, on similar dates.

" In Astrometry, the beautiful Green laser beam from laser pointer... "
"The low power (<5mW) laser pointer can be used to train your pet."
"It can be used in places of entertainment, especially the dancing party."

I Lol'd.

Yeah, every one if their reviews are by them. They are usually always over stated powers. But when buying a 200mW green for /$30 , u pay for what you get. A $30 laser.

With green , it usually goes 1/mW for actual up to spec lasers.

I wish i knew that before. I saw a 100mw laser with good reviews and bought it. Turned out to be around 30mw.

All the reviews for the lasers are painfully obvious in being fake/planted. tmart, this type of thing is very easy to spot and is more likely to scare customers away then lure them in.

What determines the quality and longevity of a laser pointer? A low wattage type say 5mw red, is it the circuitry, the diode, the switching?

Thanks, Tim S

Yes. The Chinese often go with the cheapest parts and mass produce these lasers. Very few are up to spec and those few good ones won't be found at tmart or Dinodirect or any of the China drop shipper websites.
Most of These tmart lasers are cheap junk that won't last very long aren't stable, and have horrible beam specs.
You usually get what you pay for, lasers are no different.

The driver settings or laser diode may be different, only the host is the same

Yep. Shipping is free, but you may not get your item for a few weeks to a month because it's coming from China.
Also, tmart is known for lying about the true power output of many of their lasers, and many of their lasers break or die within a few days to a few weeks.
If a deal at tmart seems to god to be true, it probably is. :tsk:
If you are going to spend money on a laser, you should get one from o-like. You will get a better laser that is power checked. It still may take 2 weeks to get to Holland, but it will be a higher quality laser.
