Hello LPF, long time no see.

Sold my collection a while back, and I'm looking to pick up another toy. Naturally, I came here first to see what's new in the game, and what your memberbase has to offer.

I've owned a Lazerer Rifle (great little thing) and a couple home builds. Rifle was blue (445) and put out around 1.5W, had a green (532 I believe) that put out over 2W, and another 445 that was around 2.3W. Point being I've handled powerful lasers before and am again looking for a high-powered laser. BUT I want to be able to use the damn thing appropriately!!! I understand limitations, but I want a good lifespan of the product, and use time that isn't 30 seconds on and 30 minutes off. No sense in spending real money for something you can hardly use and might die after a few months! I appreciate and pay for quality. I also enjoy sleek looking hosts, good materials. This was a selling point for the Lazerer Rifle. Solid host, heavy metal, felt good in your hand. However that's not a dealbreaker for the right laser.

What I'm looking for is another strong build. I enjoy personal home builds if they are done right (with care and professionalism) and the customer service is there. Otherwise, manufactured builds are a wiser investment. I'm a fan of green and blue wavelengths, the richer the color the better, unless you can convince me otherwise. This is just a toy so I'm looking for power, brightness, rich color, special features, etc. If I'm going to spend money on a toy, I want to enjoy it completely. So something in the 445 or 532 wavelength, and well above 1 Watt in power. However, I am open to suggestions and will consider all offers.

That's about it for now, if I think of anything I will add it. Show me what you got, I WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU GOT.

Thanks.

You might want to contact Thejoker301. He sells many 1 and 2 watt lasers at reasonable prices and he gives good customer service. I have hosted group buys with him and have not heard any complaints that weren't rectified.

At the bottom is a handy list someone put together recently.

Eghemus makes really solid long duty cycle host that readily accept DTR modules with laser and driver ready to use, just connect 2 wires and off you go, plus you get it fast.

I would recommend you get 2 lasers if you like long duty cycle, because todays powerful diodes make waste heat and having a backup to use while your primary cools down is the best way to go, plus you have a backup ;)

You may want to get a scifi laser because they have a great copper core and also an excellent eghemus host with a DTR ready to use module, that way you have one running while the other is cooling down.

OR .....BOTH AT ONCE :eg:

I know when I'm having fun I switch between 3 or 4 different units to keep the fun and flames rolling, safely of course. Yes I often have a laser in each hand braced against my window casing just bursting cardboard into flames, it's great fun.

Be safe and enjoy.

Thanks for the replies. If that's the case, and there's nothing special out there, I'll probably pick up another build from you, Joker.

Only thing I'm deciding on is the kind of power I want, and color. It seems that higher power levels have become more affordable since I last was interested in lasers. Back then, I was under the impression that once you get above say 1 or 2 watts in power, going higher is not that much more noticeable. Still holds true? Just want to make sure that I don't need or want a 5-7 watt device, and will be just as impressed with a 2.6 or above.

Color is important too. I really enjoy the wow factor of these lasers. Bright, saturated colors with exceptional brightness and a solid beam. Are there any other wavelengths I should consider, keeping what I'm looking for in mind?

I'm also wanting at least two of them. One green one blue. 532 and 445 is what I've owned, is there any reason to go 520 or 465? I want to get the best of each color. If they have to be different builds from different sellers, so be it.

There's plenty of special out there. You just need to commission someone or multiple someone's to put it together for you. You could also go with DTR 510 modules and screw them down on a zillion different mech mods or the electronic ones that can potentially vary output.
You could snatched up one of Ehgemus custom build hosts or have him build practically any combination of what he has built in the past including a single host that can take more than one module. An awesome combination would be a 1W+ 520nm along with a 5W+ 465nm (pushed up to around the 470nm range) in a dual beam host.
Bottom line is it all comes down to $. You got it, someone can put it together for you or you could build that dual yourself pretty easy. I'm personally not interested but it certainly wouldn't be difficult if you told Ehg what modules you were going to use specifying whether they need a spot for their external drivers which I would recommend if you want to push the diodes a bit.
What I've seen recommended here by others are plain vanilla. Thought you were looking at special...

Pman is right. There are a lot of special lasers to be had depending on the amount of money you are willing to spend. For some reason, I assumed you ere not looking to spend a lot of money. Hence, the option I gave you. But, if cost is no object, There are literally an unlimited number of very special and unique laser to be had.

I messaged you :) check the inbox.

The are many nice colors. 465nm and 520nm are possible to build. As well as other colors :)
