Hey all I'm looking for suggestions for a good quality cutting/burning handheld laser that's legal in the state of California. Im willing to save up, but the less expensive the better!:thanks:

No "good quality, cutting/burning, hand-held laser" that would qualify as "less expensive" is legal in the state of California

Even if you did save up to purchase a "legal" one, you would most probably NOT be happy with the restrictions on how to use it "legally."

If true "legality" is a requirement for you, find another hobby or forget hand-held lasers and look into laser show projectors.

Even with that, you are going to run into significant hoops and hurdles to be "legal."

Peace,
dave

Yeah... legality and lasers, sort of like mixing water and oil.

Also any laser powerful enough to burn, forget legality, the issue of safety comes into play.

Can you explain in more detail what you are looking to do with the laser?

Actually I've been tempted to put a <5mW sticker on all my lasers, just in case I get frisked by cops.

Yeah... Canada has it's pluses... and minuses.. such as super cold winters. Although I have enjoyed my visits during spring and summer a lot. Actually thinking of doing a weekend trip up to quebec in a month or so.

What's Canadian policy on lasers?

New plan... get rich, go carribean :D

I´m a bad boy, what you gonna do? :D

I´m looking for a "Laser Safety Officer Certificate" in the near future.

If there was something like that for $200-$300 in NYC area which would grant me the ability to legally carry and use lasers, I would love to do it.

I don't know about y'all but in the appellations there ain't houses but every mile or so. I could probably fire a missile from my backyard and nobody would notice.
