I'm looking to get a YAG laser of reasonable power, preferably operating in pulsed mode, but will consider CW operation. Basically I want a laser that is capable of doing some decent burning and putting holes in stuff - well into class 4 territory. A used laser in good working order would be great (I'm sure my budget won't allow for anything new!).

However, there are some things I don't want in a laser.

I don't want something the size of a small chest freezer - I saw a truly awesome YAG on Ebay a few weeks ago and the price was right but the seller was a few hundred miles from me and the laser weighed something like 300 pounds! The shipping would have been a killer, not to mention I'd have no place to put it.

I don't want anything that won't work off common household 110V current.

The laser has to be in good working order and ready to run.

That's about it.

If you search around on ebay and meredith instruments you can buy separately a YAG rod and the flashlamp, cavity and q-switching assembly for under $500.

Thanks for the info - Ebay is certainly a good place to look (found the Beast there!) and I'm expanding my daily searches there.
