Hi everyone.  Available are about 12 lavadrive2 kits for making a highly efficient switching DC-DC buck OR boost (depending on what's needed) regulator with an input voltage range 2.4-9V, constant current regulation over the entire battery charge range and current adjustong pot. These units fit great in the Kryton barrel and would easily fit in many other laser projects.  They include about 13 smt parts including 3 ICs (one of which is a difficult-to solder DFN-8 package) and a printed circuit board.  Skill level required for completing these is high, and a very fine solder pencil tip is reccommended.  Circuit boasts a start up ramp and start up delay of about 1 second to full power.

Price is $14.50 + $2 Ship

Adjustable ranges:
Choose between a blu-ray current range (about 30-150mA)
and Red Burner range (about 100 to 500mA)

PM me your email address and I will send a GCO Invoice. thanks!

drlava, are you including any instructions or details for building the drivers?
Thanks,
Jay

Hi, yes there will be instructions for component placement, testing and operation, and a photo of a completed unit. You should have solder and a tin of flux, tweezers, fine tipped iron, flux remover, magnifying glass (only needed for the one chip), multimeter, wire strippers, a steady hand and patience. :)

Oh and can you post a picture, and what are the dimensions?

Nice. I'd jump on this if I could solder this up well enough. Or you could offer an assembled version for a small fee. These drivers are supposed to be the new option on the Kryton V2 right?

Hi toked. Yes, if you can do it reflow works well with this board, it's partially how I built the first few. Just don't overheat the ICs; follow industry standard reflow times and temperatures.

The dimensions of this board are about 5/8 by 7/8

here's a pic of a somewhat sloppy build where I didn't care about having straight resistors

Yes, a version of the driver that is built on a factory board will be available for the Kryton V2. It however isn't compatible with the kryton V1.

Right now I just don't have the time to assemble these that's why they are being offered as kits, sorry!

So, the "Standard" toaster oven will NOT suffice ! Fleabay offers some pretty good deals on rework stations for fairly cheap. Those can be a decent substitute for a steady hand on occasion :)
