Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

where are the sensor(s) does this kit need a bar over head to sense break in beam?

The sensor sits on the floor infront of you, nothing to hang overhead :)

All the components and a little PCB for the sensor are included as well, along with some 5 pin DIN (MIDI) sockets and plugs to hook it all up :)

Cheers,
Dan

Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

I would be very interested in one of these kits as I have a framed harp at the moment but would like to do away with the frame.
I'm not to hot with micro electronics so this kit would be a god send.

I got to hear about this from a member of PL so I am no stranger to lasers.
I own two 500mW RGB projectors.
Not realy in to laser pointers my self but there are some interesting topics on here so I will be having a good look around.

Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

I'm still waiting on the new DAC's, however I'm considering just sticking with the original ones, which would save me having to recode/redesign everything, and it's only a few $ of the cost anyway.

@Carl I got your PM, but for the sake of completeness, I'll say it here.

The note bank system I am thinking of basically uses an RGB LED to indicate banks. Having this said, I spose I could fit 6 note banks in also, and use basic colour blending in the LED (Red, Green, Blue, Magenta, Cyan, White).

You have 2 switches/foot pedals. One is to open/close the harp, and is also used as a mode change button when the harp isn't running (You can turn the laser blanking on and off from the menu). one of the foot pedals would be used to switch between banks. I don't think any more than 3 banks would be necessary, as it'd probably take too long to flick between them.

But before I can go further with this, I need to program it and make sure everything is in working order.

Of course, anyone from PL is welcome in this too, but for organisational sake I just put it here.

Cheers,
Dan

Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

Happy to read this Kit is still alive Dan.

Regards note banks, I think just 3 banks are enough for my needs. No need to complicate things. One thing I'm not sure you answered in your last post is can you set/change what Midi note number each beam plays?

Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

Of course :)

I'll think about how I'll do it (Whether it's a menu option or hard coded), however at this stage you'll probably require an Arduino (Or FT232 breakout) to reprogram it.

Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

I am considering teaming up with csshih and selling the kits thru his webstore. If I do this, it means I will be able to purchase all the parts for the kit, and have them in stock for people to buy right away, and they will ship from the US instead of Aus. We were thinking of a sort of backorder system. ie, if you don't get in on the first 9, you can pre order for the next lot of 10 (I need a board for myself to test & troubleshoot, as well as make an instructional video on construction).

I have decided to stick with the original DAC, as such, the selling price will probably be $140USD.

I just need to octo check the PCB design and all my order parts, then I can order the first batch of 10. I'll assemble and test a board myself, fix any errors then they'll be ready. I would say within the next 2-3 weeks.

Cheers,
Dan

Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

Hi Dan

Please put me down for one kit if this kit is the version that has the 3 note banks, and once you have a final price please advise on payment details.

Would it be worth while you listing the first ten people who say they would like to buy one of these kits at the top of this thread?

Re: Feeler: Laser Harp kits

Hi Carl, like Isaid in my previous post, I'll probably end up selling these through csshih (Member of this forum)'s webstore.

I'm not sure on his accepted payments method, but Paypal will be one of course. I will have a talk to him about what we're gonna do for shipping, however the kits will probably ship from the US (Making it cheaper for US members, which is a majority here anyway).

But like I said, I will order all the PCB's and components, assemble a board myself & make sure it all works. I'll create an instructional video while I'm at it as well.

I thought I'd also ask, would anyone care for pre assembled kits for a little extra? Just an idea for anyone not so crash hot with soldering :)

If there is more interest than 10 kits, the site will offer a pre-order system so you can be on the next batch.

If I can afford to get one, I'd pay a small premium for a pre assembled unit. :)

Sorry Dan, I sort of missed that bit about csshih possibly selling these kits through his web store. Must read all post more carefully in future.

If csshih dose start selling the kits for you I take it you will advise us all as soon as they are listed on his site and maybe post a link to the kits.

Can't wait to get my hands on one of these kits.
