No more offers. I've taken one. Thanks for the help guys.

My last reliable ebay 532nm went out last night, and I really need something better before May's new moon. I recently ordered some components straight from China for a diy 635nm star pointer which may be in sometime by the end of the month, so not particularly looking for anything in that area. I'll consider any screaming deals though.

My only requirements are that I'd like it to be 445-520nm, ideally stay in the Class 3B territory, and have a momentary side button. I can build an ideal one for myself from faster-shipped components or buy one for about $80, so I'm more interested in anything complete under/around this price. A 520nm pen would definitely be great for me.

If you guys have anything you're looking to get rid of, let me know pretty soon. I may also be interested in components. You can PM me or post here.

North American sellers preferred for shipping times.

Edit for clarity of what I'd prefer:
If I was going to buy a commercial one, it'd be the 50mW 520nm from laserbtb: HL 520nm 30mW-500mW

I'm trying to avoid DPSS and low quality Chinese lasers due to very cold conditions this laser has to work in.

Re: I need a new star pointer (445nm-520nm 3B)

I'll also at least consider lower power Class 4 lasers, but 3B is my major preference here. I really only need like 30mW of 520nm and less than 100mW in blue. I'm very much okay with going up to 300mW.

edit: Sorry for the double post, but I figured I'd bump the post above the more recent posts that occurred before anybody saw it (pending approval) with some non-critical info. Edits are also problematic on LPF mobile for me.

What is your price range and how important is duty cycle? You interested in this little 500-600mw 445 build at all? Asking $75 shipped or $85 with the AW battery.

Duty cycle can be very low. I use star pointers at public events where somebody asks where something is and I point at if for a few seconds.

I'd be interested in your build, but I'm not comfortable using a higher power laser in a crowd without the momentary side switch. I don't see one on yours, so I'm going to have to wait and see if somebody offers one. If the budget allows it, I might buy yours later.

Edit: price range is as I've said ~$80 or below.

I'll consider it, but I'm going to give preference for direct diodes. Got any photos?

I'm going to have to see what others post. Having a side switch on star pointers is important to me, and 405nm is too hard for some people to see.

Re: I need a new star pointer (445nm-520nm 3B)

You interested in a laserlands 445nm pointer? Output is estimated at 15-30mw and it has a side button. I'd sell it to you for $25 shipped. It has about 5 minutes of use and doesn't have a scratch on it. Slightly pricier than ordering one from china, but you wouldn't need to wait. Idk if the beam would be visible enough for you though. Tonight I'll see if it would be practical at all for star pointing.

I'd prefer going for a bit more quality than the Laserlands pen, but tell me how it does tonight.

Don't think it would be bright enough for meaningful star pointing. You can see the beam, but it's pretty faint honestly.

Thanks for checking. I might buy both a 445nm and 510nm pen from them later if they start individual sales of the 510nm. Thanks for the offers though.:)

I'm still going to have to wait and see if anybody's got something more along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Re: I need a new star pointer (445nm-520nm Class 3B <$86)

Update bump: I'll give anybody a chance to make an offer until Wednesday next week, but the sooner, the better. Let me know what you've got.

Re: I need a new star pointer (445nm-520nm Class 3B <$86)

I'm kind of confused as I thought you were looking for a pen type pointer and not something as big as an HL model. They do still sell a 532nm 50mW pen with IR filter for about $30. I was about to order 3 pens from them because I wanted the ones that were missing from my collection but then that 473nm jet am up for sale and was able to gobble that up. The lp 50mW 520nm is just under $80 also. The one place they get you is the shipping as it's not what they list. It actually costs closer to double what you see but you can use our discount and it will take 6% off both the shipping and units. Best to pair up with someone and split the DHL shipping cost to the states and then reship the others units.

I see the cold thing now and understand why you don't want to go with a 532nm.

It's more about the momentary/side button and not being huge. Pen hosts usually fulfill both, but I'm not looking for one in particular.

Thanks for the tips though Pman. I appreciate it. You wouldn't happen to have something to offer, would you?

I'm actually looking this moment. It's not like I don't have many things that would fit the bill, it's more like what I would be willing to part with. Have to see what I actually have that is a side button too.
