I'm selling this USB phone I made last year when I had a skype account... I was frustrated by their customer service and never renewed my account... I got a cell phone instead, so I no longer use this.

It's a vintage AT&T landline phone which has been converted to a USB phone using a phoneline-to-headphone-and-mic-jack adapter and a USB soundcard. It's detected as a C-Media USB Sound Device and is automatically configured on XP and Vista. It's compatible with Win98, though you'll need to install drivers.

I believe you can still use it as a regular landline, though I haven't tried. It also has a headphone and mic jack so you can use a headset if you like.

Using special DTMF software you can even dial from it... I have a copy of it on a harddrive that I'm currently repairing... I may be able to send it to you once it's fixed, or at least point you in the right direction for finding it yourself.

I'm selling this on a best-offer basis... I'll leave offers open for a week or two. If you're interested you can PM me or make an offer in the thread.

Re: DIY USB Skype Phone

these pictures were taken in bad lighting and they make it look a lot more beat up and dirty than it really is... it's a little bit grubby but I'll give it a good clean before I send it.

there are some scuffs on the handset, though nothing too serious. it's missing a "knob" for the volume slider (though I don't think it works anyways, you set the volume in windows or skype). One of the mic/headphone jacks is crooked, though it still plugs in.

No one interested?

I'll let it go for $20 plus shipping.. Shipping will be the exact cost of the shipping, using the carrier of your choice.

Includes USB cable... for an extra $5 I'll throw in a good quality 12 foot USB extension cable. (note that this cable cost me $11, the phoneline adapter cost $25, the USB soundcard cost $15, and the phone cost $10 (a $60 value, yours for only $25! :p))

PM me if you're interested.

Is really no one interested in this fine piece of quality telecommunications gear?

Let me point out that this is not specifically for skype, it will work with any VOIP software, IM software, Game software, etc... You can use this in counterstrike to talk to your team, you can use it on MSN to talk to your mom.
It even doubles as a standard USB soundcard... having problems with sound on your computer? Simply plug in the phone via USB, and plug speakers into the phone.. You'll be back up and running with a high quality C-Media Surround Sound Device!
You can even pick up the phone and your voice will boom over the speakers for a simple and cost effective PA system, or for those lonely nights at home where you pretend to be a DJ in your basement...
Or, if you're looking for a way to play your collection of elevator music MP3's the way they were meant to be played, through the headset of a phone, look no further, this will give you the authentic feel of waiting on hold for a major corporation.
Looking to record your performances of dialtone music? Look no further than an actual dialtone phone, modified to include a high quality digital recording interface. (here's Beethoven's Ode to Joy to get you started on your compositions: 3369963211233,22 3369963211232,11 8,9789#97 89#98787)
Looking to record your next rap album while pretending to be in jail? Get the authentic sound of an actual telephone headset rather than buying low quality static from a questionable sound dealer and crudely dubbing it in.

Clearly, this truly is an amazing and versatile piece of audio/telephony equipment like no other! Don't miss this opportunity, this is a one of a kind item! Act now! Operators are standing by!

Let me point this out
Nobody wants to hold a headset up to there ears while playing games.
You can buy a HQ Headset which is a headphone, and a microphone which is hands free. Your better of selling this on ebay.

Thank you for your insightful contribution.

For those of you who are humor impaired, or have recently recovered from a frontal lobotomy, I'll give you a hint that there may be a touch of sarcasm in my post above. ;)

pseudolobster you have one creative mind. What are you using currently since you already switch to another VoIP service? Try eBay to sell your device.
