Pulled up the Serial Tag from Laser Glow a Few min after he posted this.

Was confirmed that it is a Hercules 325 Avg power 334 Peak of 429, Sold after April 3 of this year so it's somewhat of a new unit And puts it at 1389$ new. Good Luck with the Sale Hope this Information helps

I've since sent this laser to LaserGlow for some tweaking, and they told me that it's a very old 250mW unit. Not a fairly new 325mW unit.

... I guess that'll teach me to trust other people when it comes to such expensive items. Still though, where did you pull that information from, because LaserGlow are now telling me your information couldn't be more wrong.

After shipping and repairs I'll of sunk $1200 into this unit. Brand new it's not even worth $1000, and since I've decided to purchase a brand new Herc 400 because I'd never be satisfied with a Herc 250, that means I need to sell it. And no ones going to buy a massive bulky Herc with just a tiny bit more power than we can do DIY these days.

So, since I'm going to lose heaps of money anyway I may as well do something interesting with it and have something more to show than just an empty bank account:
-I could eBay it, although I don't want to.
-I could send it to the BlendTec guy to finally break his stupid blender.
-I could test the effects of a cliff on a highpowered green laser.
-I could see how long it lasts in a microwave.
-I could sell it as baseball bat from the future.
-I could use it as a host for a cheap red pointer, for laffs.
-Maybe I could mod it with some huge lithium batteries and see how big of a IR diode I can put in it. 5W handheld anyone?
-I could put 4x 200mW green modules in the head of it, turn it into a unique portable laser of sorts.

Or of course I could just raffle it, it's one of those things you wouldn't pay outright for but wouldn't mind the chance to get it. That could be a way to not lose an absurd amount of money on this.

Any other suggestions?

Send it to me for the price of shipping. I'll figure out something to do with it. Or the 4x 200mW modules thing.

No dude I called up laser glow and gave them the serial number that the guy at the pawn shop gave me..... I guess I should have asked for pictures of the serial number because the guy at laser glow called me back don’t remember the tecs name but it went to the tech as they couldn’t find it in their data base at first then he called me back and told me that information ...... I wouldn’t try to lie to you as I was interested in this unit to and then lost interests and decided to post the information.
And they know that I gave out that information or otherwise I don’t that they would back up that you can call them up and do that.
I am sorry if I gave out the wrong information and I hope you understand that I was miss told also ... If I had an e mail I would prove it to you but since it was a phone conversation I cannot but it did show up on my statement as a call to Canada .... Long distance to but not nearly out as much as you are \
Plus if it’s a 250 unit how did it have 325 on the box? Did they switch serials up or something?
I am honestly pissed at this because now this ruins my credibility and I don’t want that.

How about a 8x in a pocket mini @ 480mw for it? It's got about 10 minutes max on it.

Oh, so the serial number you were told by the guy at the pawn shop is different to the number we saw on the package. And LaserGlow had trouble trying to verify it. It would of been useful if you relayed that information here, that would of prompted greater discretion on my part.

It looks like a series of mis-communications on all parts. Just a shame it ended up coming out of my pocket, although I guess that's better than someone who might have money problems.

The same thing already happened to me with a RPL-400. Bought it second hand and it needed to go back for repair, so I ended up selling it at a loss. So now it happened with a Herc 250, bought it second handed, needed to go back for a repair, ended up selling at a loss. That's about $1000 I've lost in lasers I've bought, never got into my possession because they needed to be repaired and that I ultimately sold.

The lesson here kids is that it is always worth paying extra for new lasers, because you won't run into these troubles. If you're going to buy second hand it never hurts to have it sent back to the company it came from for a checkup.

I guess I could part with this Herc 250 for $700 USD. That's a $300 USD saving on a new unit, and although it's an old unit it's undergoing a $250 repair and tune from LaserGlow, it'll be as new. My loss is your saving.

I'll go as low as $600 USD if it's purchased soonish, because that way the laser will still be at LaserGlow and it can be shipped directly to the purchaser rather than handing it to someone in America to hold onto, saves money that way.

Of course until the repair is complete and the final outputs and stats are known there's no point putting money behind it, but if anyone's interested just post or PM me. It's worth noting that this is probably the cheapest you'll ever be able to buy a Hercules model laser.

so this is just a verification. You are selling your Herc 250 for $600? I'd be interested in getting it just so I can swap out the module of my titan into this one (I like the fact it unscrews in half for wall plug in)

Yup, I'll sell it to you for $600 USD. I'd rather sell it to you than anyone else because at least you know exactly what you're getting :)
