they should be fine. The one's I got from SenKat arrived in Gem boxes. Now they were 808's and these group buy diodes probably won't be in those cases. but i'm sure he will pack them with loving care and you will have nice babied diode's.
Okay - I am KIDDING FOLKS ! LOL Sorry, just kinda had to
They will be nicely protected inside a padded envelope to avoid any damage. That is why they are being sent first class - if Isend them in a box, you gotta add $4.60 to your order, and I can do that, and send via priority....Figured cost savings was the best way to go - the diodes will arrive safe and sound though
Well, for my Level 2 post
I will say:
Cool, i can't wait for those diodes to arrive... Tell me if I need to send you anymore $$$ for shipping...
Thanks
Jonno
There are PLENTY of extra diodes ! Shipping is first class mail unless you go nuts and want to spend an extra $25 on shipping ! LOL Shipping is included in the price....
I only want to make one laser, but I know how freaking sensitive these things are, so how many should I order? I only want to order one but if I do it will turn to an LED because it would be in my hands with my luck lol.
I bought 3, just because I wanted one primary diode, one to turn into a LED, and one to replace the one that I put in several years down the road.
PS: You still have yet to ship the diodes right? I need to know when you ship them, because I need to watch out for mis-delivery, we have the cruddiest mailman in the world. Almost all my packages arrive at our neighbors, and they tend to be abusive of them! The already broke a $500 dollar scope before, thank GOD we had shipping insurance! :-[ :-/
I have never had a diode fail due to static electricity. I should probably be more careful. We know there is always a "first time" for everything...lol. The only reason I have had diodes fail is because I pushed them too hard, and in the beginning when I first started experimenting I wasn't using either a resistor or capacitor. Now I use both.
I ordered 5 diodes because I want to push at least one to the max to see how well it will hold up, and then back off on the current depending. I do have a laser meter coming but I am not sure when I will receive it. It will be helpful in so many ways, I am getting anxious for it. Since a few here that ordered the diodes have meters, they can confirm the output vs. current input. I hope I can help out with this too.
Not yet - the EMS page says simply, entered destination country....and that was on Saturday. I am hopefull they will arrive today, but with my luck and shipping companies lately, I am not toooooo hopefull !
Treat them the same as you would a $12,000 computer part ! LOL
Be grounded when you touch them - I have a grounding strap that attaches to one of my outlets, and then to me - it keeps static well away from them. Just be careful, and you will be okay....don't touch the emission end of the diode, either - not with anything...it'll ruin it for sure !
