Default GB on yellows?

Hey, I've seen some interest in those yellow pen lasers that laserglow sells as the rigel. I can't get a huge discount off the $300 price tag, but since I'll be placing an order with the manufacturer soon anyway, if you want in I'll offer them at $250 apiece plus actual shipping to your address

That would be for a new laser, 5-6 months of warranty, all the usual you would expect if you were buying it direct from laserglow but with a modest discount. Good thing though is there is no minimum order quantity here (undermines the "group" in "group buy".. but in a good way ). I could pass on a bulk quantity discount at the 10 unit quantity, but I doubt there will be anywhere near that much interest.

Yellow DPSS is exceedingly complicated, its even worse than blue DPSS and you know how much they cost.

This pointer is strictly about getting any amount of 593.5nm, "yellow" (I think its orange IMO) not about power at all! Stability is HORRIBLE IMO and the power is rated to be 0.5-2mW. You won't be burning anything with that, and the beam is not visible without fog (its pretty neat looking with fog though). It's all just about having such a rare and exotic color.

Here's some sample pics :

Anyway, sorry andy_con but after shipping fees, bank wire fees, RMAs on defects, paypal fees, etc. etc. etc. (the fees always pile on in ways I couldn't even expect) I really can't do any better unless I were to pay for part of the deal out of my own pocket. I'll cover part of the EMS shipping myself though and offer you $265 total for EMS shipped if you want in.

On the other hand, I also have a used Vega, laserglow rated to 7mW, and I think I may also have a used rigel (the one I used in those pics I think) that I could give you a bit more of a discount on. PM for details on that.

Here is a comparison, with a 5m green, 2mw blue and a 5mw red:

And here is the beam through liquid:

As was said ealier, this laser is very low power, but is an extrordinary color. Besides, no collection would be complete without it!

Wow, the yellow looks brighter than the green! I hope that greens underpower or that's a trick of the camera, otherwise I'm getting sellers remorse! Awesome beam pic through the liquid BTW.

The dot is, if you're thinking about the beam, remember that these are 0.5-2mW rated lasers. The whole point is just to even get a shot at the difficult yellow DPSS laser, which is even worse than 473nm blue DPSS. Its a fun novelty and a great way to top off a laser collection.

If you're looking to light matches or a blazing beam to starpoint up the sky, a yellow laser is would be about the worst choice you could make.

Actually pseudo, that green is OVERPOWERED! It was tested to be ~6mw! Although the yellow doesn't alway look like that. When you give it fresh lithiums it is about as bright as the green though. But when I first got it, I put in some slightly used rechargables, and it was a green laser! :-?

Nah, these yellows like to be comfortable. You gotta give them enough power and the right temperature otherwise they can be quite unstable. Sometimes they will stop lasing yellow and instead emit a VERY faint amount of green.

Woah I would have never guessed that. Is it something to do with the diode or crystals or what? (I appologize for all of the stupid questions)

Yeah, when I first got it and I put the batts in, the beam was green! I thought, WTF, have I been sent the wrong laser?! Then after a few seconds it warmed up and became a dull yellow. I was still not very impressed, so I went and bought E2 Lithiums for it. Well WOW, now it is an amazing bright amber color, consistantly almost as bright as my overpowered WL core. From what I have heard, I think I got a good one!? ;D
