Dave, I think you mean that there is no need to keep repeating (exaggerating) the facts. Exaggeration is often associated with falsehoods, and/or bragging. And falsehoods, and/or bragging have nothing in common with character, or honesty. Right?

What Dave was referring to, are the words 'Most Powerful'...

Yes, you have the smallest 8X build, and it is the 'most powerful for it's size'.

But it is not the most powerful... That's all he was saying.

ya it just sounds like this thing is the smallest, AND the most powerful laser. (neither of which is true)
what you mean, as jayrob pointed out, is the most powerful for its size.

You guys are confusing me.

I'm honestly not arguing, I'm just trying to figure out Dave's intellectual inferences. I guess it went over my head too.

Killer build BTW...wish I had $500 to throw away.

^ yes, it is a falsehood.

its kind of like a 100 year old guy with 2 billion dollars; it would be incorrect to call him the oldest, richest man.

but its just the way the sentence is structured; we all know what DAoO means.

"And" implies that both statements are completely true, independently of one another. The statement, as "smallest AND most powerful", implies it is the smallest laser (not true) and that it is the most powerful laser (also not true).

What's so difficult to understand about that?

Like mentioned above, we get what you're trying to say (that it's the smallest package in which you can get the most powerful 405nm diode), but you see in that version, the descriptors are dependent upon one another. I can make a smaller laser, and I can make a more powerful laser, but likely not BOTH, see what I mean? As stated, the statement isn't true, but your MEANING is true, it's just not well worded.

Dave is a guy who likes precise wording, as do many other people, and this just isn't precise wording. What you're writing doesn't equal what you're trying to say, that's all.

Perhaps I needed to define hyperbole for you.

Your statements are not even true on this forum, let alone in "the world."

Your laser is NOT the "WORLDS SMALLEST" burning laser. (I believe Kenom holds that distinction on this forum)

Your laser is NOT the "most POWERFUL" burning laser. (This statement is too vague to effectively measure. Even adding "bluray" to the statement does not make this part true. I still have one burning at 512mW)

It most certainly is NOT "THE WORLDS SMALLEST MOST POWERFUL BURNING Blu-Ray LASER IN THE WORLD!" (It is an awfully big world. . . )

It is, as I stated above, the smallest 8X based laser (that we know of) being offered for sale in this forum. Any claims elevated beyond this reality are false, misleading, and dishonest.

What is difficult to comprehend? Your statement is an exaggeration that reaches the level of dishonesty.

You have built a really cool unit here. Why do you feel the need to diminish and devalue what it actually is by trying to say that it is more than what it actually is?

We weaken what we exaggerate.

Peace,
dave

I honestly thought i was being honest... i wasnt trying to stretch any truths...

To ME... this laser is the highest powered laser, in the smallest package possible..

I dont see how i was being dishonest...

So say goodbye to this thread, i'm not trying to be branded a liar, and aparently i chose the incorrect wording for this topic...

This laser is NO longer for sale.

Sorry

Daguin...

care to reword is as you might have worded it? I just really want to know how i "took it too far" or what a better way to word it would be

I mean.. this is the tinyest 8x build around... wouldnt that make it the smallest/most powerful? I get the whole "IN THE WORLD" part, maybe thats false.

Because i had no intentions of lying to ANYONE... and i have since erased post one.

Thanks Dave,

Tyler

I do not see how I am being obtuse. I have stated more than once what it is. You simply say what it is. You have built a really cool laser here. Just say what it is.

FS: 428mW Burning 8X Blu-ray Laser, Built in a Jayrob CR2 Keychain Kit

That is reality, it is true, and it is really cool! The unit is, for now, the smallest 8X laser being offered for sale. I personally would prefer the label "violet" to "bluray" because of the continuing confusion, but such is the market. Now compare that to your "add" below.

THE WORLDS SMALLEST MOST POWERFUL BURNING Blu-Ray LASER IN THE WORLD!

Which statement is true, yours or mine?

As I said -- You tend toward hyperbole.

Peace,
dave

245mW??

I thought it was at 305mA's and giving 428mW's through the 405-G-1 glass lens right Dark?

What ever the case, certainly an awesome little build! Makes me want to put an 8X diode in one of these Key Chain CR2 hosts!

You are correct. I "short circuited" into the Kenom red keychain I have (300mW with the 10880). I'll correct it above.

I understand Daguin

And JAY, YES it is 428mW's at 305mA.... NOT 245mW as dave stated.

I measured the output myself.

But i'm done with this build. too much controversy.

I'll stick to selling lasers on my own time, and not through threads, just to avoid criticism.

Someone will buy it reguardless, Im done with this thread.

Sorry guys..

Definitely a red build (compared to a blu-ray build), could get more power with a smaller battery such as a 10180 (90mAh), or a 10280 (200mAh). Because the diode is only drawing about 2 volts.

I don't think Kenom has room for a driver in his key chain though...

A blu-ray build on the other hand, especially an 8X, will be drawing probably in the neighborhood of 500mA's from the battery for the FlexDrive to boost the voltage needed for the diode and give it 300mA's current.

So in this case, even my Key Chain 10280 is not a good enough supply for the 8X diode. Although it would work, it would not be very good for the battery, and it would not have a very long run time at all...

But the Key Chain CR2 on the other hand, using a CR2 (or CR2 rechargeable), is a very compatible battery source for such a build!

Thus, the smallest 8X Key Chain blu-ray with a driver! Sweet little build...
Jay

Edit: Just tested battery current draw from a CR2 rechargeable (800mAh) battery on my 8X build, which is set at 292mA's... 570mA's battery current draw. Too much for even a 10280. But it would work. Just not good for the battery. Or would it be a very good run time.

Because, as the battery voltage starts to drop, the FlexDrive will start to draw more and more current to boost voltage to what the diode needs. So even though the battery is getting weaker as it drains, the demand gets higher and higher, as the battery drains...

But the Key Chain CR2 handles it just fine!
