Oh, I see thanks for the quick answer again daguin.

I was completely unaware of such a restriction, as I have seen 10+w lasers, never even considered the banning of just powerful handheld lasers...but then againi when I think about it, I wouldn't trust 90% of my NJ friends with even a 5mw laser... :-/

Otherwise yeah if you want to sell in the US, then just don't post power, but with the exchange rate why not just put the adds on ebay.uk, youd sure make a pretty penny (lol@cliche)

Hey man! That's a sweet little blu-ray pointer you have there! I'm tempted to buy one just because I like the smooth chrome finish. I wonder if a FlexDrive can fit that pointer host? Because I like the use of the lithium primaries better. If you can get a low range FlexDrive in there, I'll buy one for sure!

hmm. well Jay, I'll have to see what my self and my little work shop can put together. If it fits, you'll be the first one to know. Also, i might push the price up just a touch cause those drivers are a pit more pricey.

Totally understandable... I've been working with the FlexDrives, which are back ordered (low range). They are excellent drivers. The current has to be set under load. I use 6 silicon diodes in series. I tested this against a dim blu-ray diode, and they were both the same current reading.

Anyway, yeah! If those host's are as nice as they look in the picture, I'll want one just for that! If you can get a FlexDrive in there. I like the Lithium primaries. If it fits, set it for 100mA's, and use an AixiZ acrylic lens!

Jay do you happen to remember the resistance in ohms of the series of silicon diodes that you used?

Not sure how to measure that. But I was told that using my DMM on the mA setting, to set it up like this diagram:

Only, I don't use the 1 ohm resistor. I just set my DMM for mA's. This diagram is what rog8811 showed for a 'dummy' load for a red diode.

DrLava recommended to me, to try 6 silicon diodes. So I made the dummy load, and then compared it with the load of a dim 803T blu-ray diode. I got the exact same current reading using the dummy load, as I did with the diode.

I have checked this a couple times since...

if you could fit a lavadrive and cut it down shorter to run one 1 aaa sized batt it would be "cooler" than the minidorcy for style and size by a longshot
