Nope, none of that will be needed, the adapter threads on to BE without the black ring, and adapter goes on to the host directly.. less adjustments, the better.

Bumping it up with one of the first (if not the first) first 520nm build by Sinner called The Hulk on LPFm i'm eager to see the this adapter go further!

Still loving it, thus bump..

Cheers, Sm.

Hey Sm,

I'm working on making the first five of these, out of which 4 so far have been spoken for already so hopefully in 1-2 weeks i'll be able to ship them out.

Hello.
I have a good experience with beam expanders.
I have five modified Laserglow beam expanders and two Jetlaser expanders.
The Laserglow beam expanders has three lens, one small, one convex and another plano-convex, and this is not Galilean type.
Despite to their high price and the poor quality of the coating, I love it very much because they are easy moddable and they have a great gap of focus: from 20 cm from the aperture to the infinite.
The three side screws with teflon on the top allow to play a lot with the beam centering, so it is simple to align perfectly the beam to the first small input lens.
Also, the traditional G2 or three elements lens allow to find an optimal input focus.
A too large input beam cause loss of power because part of the beam will be truncated, and can also damage the silicon parts placed around the small lens, while a too focused input beam will cause the lens coating to burn immediatly.
Both large beam input and small beam input cause another unwanted issue: the gap range of the expanded beam. You can obtain a very short focus (so the long focus will be limited to a few meters) or viceversa.
To obtain a good and centered expanded beam You need to play a lot with the beam input diameter, with the distance of the beam expander from the laser head, and with the X/Y axis, but at the end You will have a very good result.
The Jetlaser is Galilean type, has only two lenses and has a very long focus, so forget to obtain a focus close to the aperture.
I obtain the nearest focus at about 6 meters with my 445 nm PL-Pro, and the dot/line is fat.
The input lens accept 2mm beam diameter, while the Laserglow one accept only 1.5 mm, but with the help of the G2 or three elements glass lenses it is possible to find the most suitable beam diameter input.
Since all the beam expanders has a lot of power loss, I do not suggest the use of three elements glass lenses, unless You do not care a noticeable power loss or prefer a very focused small line instead a big fat line ...

Hello.
The three side screws with teflon on the top allow to play a lot with the beam centering, so it is simple to align perfectly the beam to the first small input lens.
I have designed the adapter on the basis of LaserGlow Attachment, but it will have similar threads for Jetlasers 10X Adjustable BE. Three screw adjustment is possible which is why I choose this design over a fixed (threaded) mount of Jetlasers as it comes from factory..

Also, the traditional G2 or three elements lens allow to find an optimal input focus.A too large input beam cause loss of power because part of the beam will be truncated, and can also damage the silicon parts placed around the small lens, while a too focused input beam will cause the lens coating to burn immediatly.
Thanks for the input I will update the thread with this information as it is important not to burn the coating but I am sure a lot of people will be careful not to focus the G2 lens so closely. [/Quote]

Both large beam input and small beam input cause another unwanted issue: the gap range of the expanded beam. You can obtain a very short focus (so the long focus will be limited to a few meters) or viceversa.
This is a known, And Also Jetlasers beam expander is limited on close focus but it has very fine focus adjustment as compared to the Laserglow Beam expander , Also there is price difference, Jetlasers is $99 and Laserglow is $350 for some reason. So i disregard Laserglow in my attachments and only Jetlasers 10x will fit.

The Jetlaser is Galilean type, has only two lenses and has a very long focus, so forget to obtain a focus close to the aperture.
As long as it focuses to Infinity and the beam is corrected properly , why should we care about this.
Also , If we need close focus we can always remove beam expander and burn out matches with G2 :p

Thanks.

As of now all 5 are spoken for and i have started working on them this weekend, if all goes well we'll have the first batch done in 1-2 weeks from now.

Good idea, I like it. I don't know how much improvement such will give, but if it is coupled well enough it should help quite a lot. I've been considering having fins made to stick between the grooves of one of my hosts, if I could find a way to clasp them together on the head of the host firm enough but this idea looks like a much better solution.
