First off Id like to mention that I recieved my test load today. Shipped fast. Looks awesome and very professional looking. Very happy with it!

My question is well I dont know what im doing really lol.

I saw how to set up the test load with the driver and the Multimeter which Ive done.

But im not sure what Im exactly looking for. What is the meter suppose to tell me?

That the driver is performing at spec and the voltage its putting out?
Im still trying to learn all this so some help would be great!:beer:

The driver im testing is x-driver at 1.8a for a m140 445nw diode.

Also will be testing a x-driver 850ma for a 638nw 600mw diode

That's correct! The test load takes the place of the laser diode without all the dangers of ruining it. It will tell you if the driver is working well and the with the multimeter it tells you the approximate current output. Also a must on drivers where current is set by a pot.

well when I turn the host on to test it, the multimeter just shows the voltage dropping. Is that what its suppose to do?

It shows .60 then slowly starts dropping all the way to 0 in about 30 seconds.

Hmm, that's strange. The voltage shouldn't be dropping. It should be approximate to the driver's current output rating. Do you have a picture of your set up?

I think I have something hooked up wrong with the driver =/

I tested one of my drivers in a host I got like a year ago that was suppose to be a 1.62a driver. It tested at 1.54.

So I guess now I need to figure out what I did wrong with the driver.....

Hmm, is the driver your using adjustable or fixed current? Sometimes the pot gets bumps and throws it out spec. Also, it could be dropping in voltage because the test load is starting to heat up.

Your other driver should be fine, maybe the batteries need charging?

There a fixed current driver from Lazeerer

There the x-drivers

I just charged the batteries and are fully charged.

Well when I tested the 1.6a it worked just fine but the 1.8a isnt.
I wonder if maybe the driver is grounding out inside the pill?
Could that cause an issue?

That's also possible. Try to check all the connections. If that doesn't work it could be the driver itself.

Not sure exactly what it was but I did fix it. I knew it had to do with something I did wrong. I was either shorting it out or it was grounding somewhere it wasnt suppose to.

But I took the pill back apart it put electricaly tape around the inside of the c6 pill and also put hot glue on the inside part of the contact board and It tested good.

Got a good 1.8a driver and a my 850ma driver both good. (still have 1 more of each to build.)

Finished the 850ma red laser tonight and works awesome.
