Hey everyone!

Up for sale is a Scientech 365 with a 38-0101 Calorimeter (tripod not included) that I thought I would post here before heading over to feebay.

I've had it since 2014 but have only used it maybe twice since then (I have a 20C-A-1-Y too) because it is too big for my current space to put anywhere in which it is easy to access. Although I would love to keep it over the Ophir because it looks nicer (in my opinion), I need money for other hobby expenses.

And here is the other information with pictures:

The meter zeroed out on the 20W setting. I have never tried the Joules setting with a laser pointed at it because I honestly never saw a need to. I have also never tuned it because the output was close enough to the Ophir head that I didn't see it as that important.

The first one is me struggling to keep the laser steady, so it fluctuated a bit.
The second one I managed to hold it steady enough to get a steady reading.
There is some delay in these things for those who don't know, the response time is like a second or two though so nothing to worry about. I am using an NDB7875 diode in a Cypreus XL host (shout out to sinner) for this test.

The front and back of the meter. It looks really new and there are no marks on it that caught my eye (I would show you if there were).

The calorimeter, which probably has had some use based on the bit of wear on the Scientech logo on the side of it in the initial picture.

Lastly, the inside. I was going to clean it before taking the pictures but honestly do not know what is safe to use so opted out of that.

Thanks for looking, any other questions feel free to ask

I've un-linked you're 20,000 Gigapixel images. Please re-size them to no more than 900x650px , or leave them un-linked.

Sorry, should have previewed before posting

I don't quite understand what the difference is between my Ophir setup and this unit other than you call this a calorimeter. Does it do something different? Sorry, just trying to understand.

There is no difference from my understanding since they are both using heat as a form of measurment, calorimeter is just the technical term that is used specifically in the Scientech manuals so I thought I'd be consistent in respect to that

Great meters, those. And if anyone is put off by the size, the internals are pretty small- one board and the display, so it couls easily be put in a smaller enclosure. There's also a thread here somewhere where someone added data logging to it. It's a good price too!

How much power can the calorimeter head take without cooling? Can it take more with cooling?

Here is what I am finding when I look the datasheet up:

General characteristics item description: 1.000 in. aperture size; 0.4 to 1.2 microns spectral response; 10uw to 10w power range; max cw power density 30w/cm2; 30 max joules single pulse energy; output (mv/w nominal) 100; o/a dim. 4.000 in. lg,2.500 in. dp; 40 ohms manganin heater

I wouldn't know how to answer your question with this given because I don't know if it means with cooling. Maybe someone else knows

I don't believe these need cooling (of course I could be wrong). There are a bigger series of sensors for these, I dunno if that correlates to a need for heatsinking to go the full 20W or not.
(Great help, right?)
