Re: FS: Sanwu Laser store - R/G/B handhelds x3 BE & Stainless steel "The Spiker" rele

Yes a 6X would need to be wider to work with our MM diodes, but these 3X are very good, if a 6X could be had that worked as well that would be sweet.

I suppose if the output was twice as wide for say a 6X that would be just fine for my medium and larger size builds, but the 3X is just right for the more compact builds.

Anyway I would pre order if larger units become available, but I would still use the 3X for compact builds, I am happy with them. :gj:

There's a double plywood target on the door. ;) I change them out as they burn through.

This picture put a smile on my face this morning, :thanks: for posting it.
How long does it take to go through your double plywood back stop?

I did not zoom them in or it would have been on fire, these are all set at my last out the window target of about 20 - 25 feet making 7 x 20mm bars that I overlapped the centers, and just the centers smoked an orange glowing spot and burned a hole.

Awesome! Hope you have an exhaust fan, can just imagine the smoke coming off those burns. NICE! :)

Yes I open my window and turn on my attic fan just outside the same door, safety glasses, fire extinguishers and ventilation are all good ideas if working indoors.

Kinda figured you had to, I've done some burning in the house and stunk it up a few times. I'm a slow learner. Now I turn the exhaust fan on. :tinfoil: 3 44's on one spot, that's some heat right quick.

Re: FS: Sanwu Laser store - R/G/B handhelds x3 BE & Stainless steel "The Spiker" rele

The one with the shroud around the expander and the finned job is a NUBM06 with it's GBall lens INTACT, if they test focused to a square then you need additional lenses or just remove the GBall and accept the lifespan reduction, but if the NUBM06 with it's GBall intact is focused so that it produces anywhere from a rectangle to line then you can add a 3X BE with an emptied out 3 element barrel as a connector and get a good burner in the 0-30 foot range and they last a lot longer.

The 06 has better divergence than the 44 but the 44 is still a solid watt stronger and I use a 3 element with the 44 where as the 06 has a single element longer FL lens albeit a more efficient one it is not as good with distance, but it's all really small differences until you correct that hyper aggressive axis.

Is there anything an expander cant do? Well it cant correct uneven divergence, however if you correct the rapidly diverging axis then add a BE......WOW :D :D :D

This is the 06 that's in the shroud unit, the 44 is still the king, but not by a ton, it's almost 2 years old, I'm ready for a 12 watt or something new, but these are still fun with the proper safety equipment and practices and the sanwu BE is a real jewel, the 3X BE reduces that 1/2 rectangle to 1/3 the width and 1/3 the height squeezing all the energy into a smaller rectangle about 10th the original area as the 3X is really a 3.3X and that's in our favor.

------EDIT------

Here's an 06 with GBall intact and the sanwu 3X, notice how the 1/2 inch by 1/4 inch rectangle is significantly smaller.

For those of you who are not laser pyros as I am 1/2 inch ply wood is much harder to ignite than thin brown paper.

Sorry for the jitter, I was holding the orange glasses over the camera lens so it wouldn't be a blinding blue wash in one hand and moving the laser with the other, I was as always wearing my safety glasses. :)

------EDIT------

My paper/cardboard target got a little moist, makes for a pretty beam though.

Same 06 GBall intact with sanwu 3X BE. I love how the smoke dances in the beam.

@ RedCowboy; very nice videos, the smoke coming up on the last one, does make the video stand out.

Really like your 06 build ( first video ) like the look of the heat sink. :) Beautiful beams coming off them. Compressing a dot down to 1/3 the size with a BE is the way to go, makes thing down stream burst into flame quicker, which is always a good thing.

I Love Rick and Morty.

One thing I find helpful is to include some run out trim in my builds, I aim for good alignment but I don't have a mill so what looks good up close can be distorted in the far field until you adjust half a screw turn bottom and 3/4 of a turn right, but it sure feels good when you can reach out.

Up close this is vicious , I can write on wood in constant flame and I can light a bag across my yard about 75 feet.

The smoke from the bag/cardboard helps show the zoom to my back fence.
I can burn leaves anywhere in my yard, and that is fun.....just always make sure that everything is out. ;)

This holds 3 cells all the way to the head and was designed for easy module replacement and long run time, I could likely drive nails with it too. :D

The diode is the mighty NUBM44 running an SXD @ 4.5 amps, it has a G2 a 6X cylindrical pair and sanwu 3X BE, there should be about 6.75w to start minus parasitic loss for somewhere in the 5.5-6.0w range at range.

It's a fun burner that reaches flashpoint fast.

I get BE's from sanwu pretty fast, like 10-12 days or so, but anything that gets stuck in NY can be there a week.

You do have a pair of safety glasses for that 445 don't you?
They are a lot stronger than they look and can hurt your eyes, it really is the most important thing.

Also that spot is smaller than it looks, you can see the true spot with the safety glasses on that attenuate the wavelength you are working with so besides saving our vision they are needed tools as well.

Thanks, my camera is not all that great but I try to get some good shots, I zapped some holes through some leaves at the back fence but my zoom can't get in that close from my window, I can just see them myself but I would like to get a better camera sometime. Of course I have this set to 600x400 so I can straight upload without using a drop site, I got really sick of photobucket otherwise I could get some better shots.

yes i have glasses rated from 190nm to 540. i really dont have any red lasers besides a 5mw radio shack i let my dog chase. and i found the beam expander on ebay a few days before i actually found sanwu's site, so we shall see what actually turns up in the mail. im hoping someone just ordered one and had it shipped to my address and not have it be either fake or used. heres a link- SANWU 3X MAGNIFICATION OPTICAL EXPANDER For Thor Laser long distance burning | eBay
