The pic is in my signature below, g2, g7, and acrylic. The g7 is 1mm or so longer than the acrylic lens
Hi Podo, my g7 lenses screw in a thread or so then stop. (Tried both) I don't want to force them in this cu module. Are the threads the same as a g2 or 3 element?

Okay, thanks. It appears that I won't be buying any g7 lenses from sanwu, unless Podo can put them in a longer lens barrel.

You've sparked my curiosity, why do ya need a longer barrel? Most of them are short like that IIRC.
I'm actually quite surprised that G2 is in a longer holder! Makes it look like a 3E, or maybe that's a housing from a 3E. Who knows, it's generally pretty confusing to me as to why there's not just one standard type of lens barrel, aside from the thicker lenses such as the 3E. Do the various G lenses really differ in size that much?

Plasma, I prefer the longer barrels because I like to use extended focusing rings, which are problematic with short lens barrels. Also, trying to focus my S4 build without an extended focusing ring is very difficult.

Ahah I can relate to the that, imagine the agonizing pain of trying to focus a laser to a pinpoint without it being on, having to turn it on time after time to get what you need. That's how my 520nm build was for a while, but then I had asked Flaminpyro to craft me a custom focus ring which now works and looks great.
Never used the extended focus rings from survival if I'm thinking of the same one you're talking about, but maybe you can use some thread lock to secure just a smaller bit of threading into the focus ring so you have more room to screw it in? :thinking:

Got my laser today!
When it works, it's very impressive, but something seems to be wrong with the tailcap. My laser works fine when I touch a paperclip to the negative contact and the host, but when I put the tailcap on, it only works sometimes.
Not sure, maybe my protected 14000 is just a bit too long? It fits, though it does push the spring on the rear contact pretty far back.
I've tightened the retaining ring, but still no luck. Any idea what's up?
edit: I've messed around with the tailcap some more, and I think it might be what's malfunctioning. When I screw the cap on halfway, it works, when I screw it on all the way, it doesn't.

I suppose you don't have a non protected cell?
Try only screwing the tail cap on just enough to catch and see if it works, you may need a shorter battery or a new tail cap switch, podo should send you a replacement switch innards you can swap out.

The best thing I could recommend is using a mutli-meter to check the continuity of the tailcap in both positions. If the tailcap works fine the battery is the problem. If the tailcap is faulty it will need fixing or sanwu could send you a new tailcap.
I had issues with protected cells with one of my flashlights. Seems like they didn't like being squeezed by the spring or something and would cut out randomly.

Elly, I say screw that tailcap on halfway and give it hell till you get new tail cap or batteries. You have some lost lasing time to make up.

edit: It seems the screwy tail cap also makes it difficult to swap between safety mode to full power. I spent about five minutes half clicking the button five times, and even after waiting the required three seconds, the laser didn't power up all the way. I guess the cap screwed halfway in is just good enough to power the laser, but not good enough to send the half click signals.

Better to try a flat-top 14500, we test each laser with a flat top one before shipping.
