Up for sale today is my RPL-400.

I bought this little guy a while ago, but it got misaligned on travel so I sent it back for repairs. Due to new laws in Australia, I couldn't get it returned to me, so instead it's been in limbo for a while.

But now it's getting ready for sale :)

The laser is currently residing at Optotronics HQ where it'll go through testing. Once I get the graphs, I'll post them up here. The laser will also ship directly from Optotronics. In fact, the only difference between this and a brand new laser is that this one did a bit of world traveling before being sold, it only got 5 minutes of use out of me before I sent it back for repairs :)

I'm just posting this up now to see if there is any interest. I won't actually sell the laser until it's got those graphs.

As for price, I'm thinking around 1000 USD. Bit more expensive than your average 2nd hand laser, but that cost also covers the full repair and service the laser underwent, the testing at Optotronics and the shipping from Optotronics. Price is negotiable though.

I should also point out that this is the old, black version and not the new silver version. So, if you every wanted a black RPL then here is your chance ;)

Optotronics made you pay for the repair and service as well as the testing/shipping? I would think that would be free if you only had it for 5 minutes of use. What's the deal? Why didn't you just return it for a refund? Just curious...

I bought the laser originally second hand as well, it was brand new then. But there was a problem with the warranty and transferring to a third party, so when it needed to be repaired I had to cover all the costs.

Bit of a pain, but ah well, what can you do? :)

Oh...thanks for the explanation. That is a fine laser, someone would be getting a great deal by purchasing it :)

Yeah, it's one mighty fine laser alright.

Looking at the market these days, I think I'll drop the price to USD 1000. Price still fully negotiable though.

Got some tests back!

Jack at Optotronics tested it at 404mW average with a peak of 500mW. Pretty much your standard RPL-400 type laser ;) I'll get some more data out once Jack had finished with it.

'fraid not, I don't want to sell that one ;)

I've heard of lasers being picked up at customs now, so I would really much rather just sell this one than risk trying to import it, it's just too much money to gamble with the law.

Have you asked Jack if they can list it on Optotronics as a refurbished unit for you?

You probably won't sell this. Another guy has been trying to sell a RPL-375 equivalent for $600 shipped without any luck. The economy sucks and people don't have that much money to burn anymore.

Yah, I figured. It was always planned to be listed with Jack as refurbished unit, like what robjdixon said. But I thought I'd give LPF members a first chance ;)

And now it's a last chance before I stick it up there, on the off chance someone was looking for an expensive laser and they crossed through this section ;)
