Default FS: RPL-300

Yup, the RPL-300 I bought just to sell is now up for sale

Here's what you get:
- RPL-300
- 2x batts
- charger
- WL LaserShades (safety! this is a serious laser!)
- case
- little screwdriver to adjust the power, since it is an adjustable RPL model

Here's the pic of it all:

Performance? Well, I have a power meter, so you get a graph Here is a graph of the lasers output with a fresh charge on one of the batts it comes with:

Quickly reaches around 290mW and as it warms up slowly climbs to peak at around 325mW. Average sits around 310-320mW.

Other performance notes:
RPLs automatically switch themselves off when they heat up, so that is their duty cycle. This laser has a very variable duty cycle. Stays on for about a minute in a warm room being held by a warm hand. Stays on nearly indefinitely outside on a cool night, so it depends on the ambient temperature.
Also, worth noting that the divergence is a little wider than a new RPL. Not by much, my estimations of this laser are 1.5-2mRad.

Cosmetically the laser is in good (not excellent) condition. No real scratches or anything, it just has an 'old' kind of feel to it. But you can ascertain that from the pics!

Also, you can see just here past the shutter cap that the paint has started to weather down a bit. Not very noticable, but it's something for the buyer to consider. Also, the flash on my camera has over exaggerated the marks on the front of the laser. Really they are barely visible except under direct light at close range:

Obligatory beam pic!

Worth noting that pic was taken directly under a fluorescent light. The real beam is much more visible, my camera doesn't like beam pics

Price? AUD $800 to start.

Since a lot of interest has been shown in this laser, I'll be taking the highest reasonable offer from AUD$800. I say reasonable, because I'll feel guilty selling this laser for $2000+ or something crazy If you're offering around the $1000 mark I'll say sold, but let's see what happens.

btw, AUD$800 ~= USD$760. Go to Google for a more accurate currency conversion

Hi Murudai,
The 60 second run time on this RPL is not the laser heating up, but is caused by the battery falling below the threshold voltage of the battery protcetion circuit in the RPL.
When protected cells or those that don't actually supply 2400 or 2600mAhr capacity are used, the battery will fall below the threshold much more quickly and shut off. If unprotected 2600mAhr LG cells are used like the one included with the RPL are used, the run time will be much longer.

Those are batteries on a fresh charge. Why does the RPL cut them off? These are 2400mAhr cells from DX, unprotected.

But anyway, there you go. Want more duty cycle, buy better batteries

Hey Jack, I've searched around but unprotected cells are nearly impossible to find. I haven't seen any 2600mAhr unprotected, can you recommend any websites I can buy some from?

What deal would that be daev? Prometheus per chance? I can't compete with those, but since this laser will be sold to the Australian market, I don't have to ;D

Only $800? I'm hoping to sell it for more, because at that price it means the laser I got specifically to sell will end me up with exactly 0 profit, lol

But hey, maybe I'll be feeling generous

No. The other "deal" is for a shipment of meteorites from Argentina.

I didn't realize that you were limiting it to Australian buyers.

I'll bury a frog upside down for you.

meteorites ?? Damn, that sounds awesome Can't complete with that either... unless aliens sent a laser death ray down... oh wait, couldn't compete with that either.

And it's not limited to Aussie buyers, they are just the ones with the most to benefit If an international buyer wants to offer a lot for this laser it's theirs

Murudai,

Just curious, but does it also have this 60secs runtime on a lower setting for the current?
And after it shuts down how long before you can use it again?

I'm considering to buy an RPL (260 or 300) in a few months but 60secs runtime is way to short (thats even shorter than a pen sized laser)

Yeah that does sound awesome!

Are you into geology rocks and minerals and such? I used to be an avid collector, still have quite a few floursecent minerals I got ("mined&quot in a mine close to NJ that claimed they were the epicenter of such stones in the US, maybe you've heard of it? Can't remember the names of the minerals but they glow a really bright orange and or green under either short wave or long-wave UV, I also have a bunch of other pretty nice crystals and minerals, me and my uncle used to be quite freaks when it comes to geology (he used to be an engineer in a mine, and has unrestricted access to pretty much any closed of mine in Slovenia) we still are just neither of us has time anymore, kind sad really, but such is the pace of the lives we have created for ourselves.

Sorry for the threadjack murudai, I doubt you will have a prob selling anyway, good luck with sale!

Hmm. I MAY withdraw from this sale. The whole point of getting the RPLs in before the ban is so I wouldn't have to worry about customs. But because I had to send back the RPL-400 for repairs, that defies the point of that.

So I may keep the RPL-300. I'll see what Jack has to say about the situation and the RPL-400
