I didnt think that I would be that hard to figure out that the heatsink cant go past the lip on the front of the light, and has to go out the way it was put in from the middle of the the light where the threads are, guess I could have worded it better. And the tutorial says you put the hetsink and pill in from the thread side it has to come out that way. And I was saying that my heatsink and driver compartment were stuck in the head and were hard to get out at first also.

heh yeah those things are in there pretty tight, and thats even after i shave a little off the side of that black plastic thing....

to initially get them out so i can strip the PCB board and install the flex drive i actually have to use my vice and metal rod to push the insides out of the head.....

Yeah, it works, minus the whole gap issue with the PCB,sometimes i was able to get the laser to turn on by moving it around with my own hands, i couldn't resolve the problem with a hill of solder so i guess i will wait on the washers in the mail, How long do you estimate they will take to arrive, since i just got my kit today

well if it isn't there saturday then it would be there by monday for sure.

I did the "solder" fix once and noticed something which may help you.

The batteries positive terminal is not that long, so when you add solder to the outside ring of the PCB board, it can hit the side of the battery before the positive part can hit the PCB...

so when you add solder to the edges of the pcb board, you should add the same height of solder to the center of it.

you can also just get the washer at any hardware store, just tell them you need a 3/8 inch flat steel washer.....costs about 12 cents (here anyways)

The problem wasn't the spacing ,it turns out, the solder joint from the PCB to the flexdrive was loose and poorly soldered, took me about 2 hours to figure that one out., by the way, how do u focus the aixis module, just by moving the metal cap or is that a lock to prevent you from focusing using the black thing

And is there anyway i can tighten the set screw without an allan key (I think thats what it looks like it wants), because when i do try the focus, the module moves around in the heatsink

the set screw uses a hex key to tighten (1.5mm i believe)

...careful with trying to focus the module without it tighten down to the heatsink, you may end up switching the wires and breaking off a pin to your diode.

the aixiz module is focused by adjusting the lens nut on the end of it...it basicly just serves as something to grab onto so you can turn the lens.

When I try to unscrew the nut, it seems to just want to fall off, it will screw inward and stay on obviously

unscrew the lens out of the module untill you comes out, then tighten the lens and the lens nut together really tight so it won't come off anymore and then put it back in your module....
the black lens should be unscrewing from the module when you try to focus, the lens nut should not unscrew from the lens.

Ok, the Kit is complete and besides a few minor issues like the spacing thing that i fixed and the weak solder joint, this kit is fantastic, thank you Mohrenberg, 4.5/5 ,xD, and 5/5 for Customer Service, sorry for asking so many dumb questions, but this was actually my first laser build

And for those of you who have stiff insulated wire, you can use that instead of a spacer and you wont have to undo any soldering you already did, and you wont have to use a split washer either, that's what I did anyway

That wire sounds like a good idea AbsoluteZedo I might try it.

Mohrenberg how much would you sell the guts for like the heatsink and all components of the pill and the battery?

your right zero, using some stiff insulated wire really does work better, i tried it the other day while assembling one.
