Very interesting.... I think RonnieB15 is trying to pull some kind of SCAM.

He ordered this laser from us on 3/28, it was shipped to him on 3/29 and tracking shows as delivered on 4/1.
On 4/26 he left us a voicemail saying that it's no longer working properly and that he had sent it back that day for repair.
When I looked at it, it appeared as if it had been dropped, but I didn't have time to do failure analysis on it at the time and shipped him new one. The day I shipped it to him he left a voicemail asking for it's status and I in return left him a message telling him a new one was sent to him earlier that morning and he should get it in 2 days.

He then called me back telling me he changed his mind and couldn't really afford the pointer and he just wanted a refund....This after using it for 26 days.

I informed him that there would be no return for buyer's remorse and that he agreed to the sales terms by checking off on the sale terms of agreement required to complete the checkout process, but that the replacement was of higher power output than the original (181mw I believe).

I didn't hear anything more from Ronnie until I saw this thread on May 8th.
He has since deleted his thread, but thanks to google cache, I recovered it and here is the text from his sale thread.

FS - Optotronics PPL 150 mw

Purchased new 3-30-11 from opto.
About three weeks later I believe the optical lens came loose.
I returned it to Jack for repair and it has been returned to me.
It has no blemishes whatsoever.

Jack can confirm this.

$140 including two new Duracell AAA 1.5v alkaline batteries.

Original box.
You pay for shipping of your choice. I'm in Phoenix.
------------------------------------
He posted here on 5/8 that he received the repaired pointer and that it's for sale.
I figured, he would sell it and that would be the end of it....

Well today when I visted the PO I had a package returned as "refused"
When I got home and opened the returned package it did not have the pointer in it, all there was the newsprint packing material. Upon close inspection I saw that the USPS tape on the side of the box had been carefully cut and package opened, then taped back shut with a piece of transparent packing tape.

I then called the post master about this as the package had a signature confirmation on it (which I had to sign when the package was returned) and wondered how Ronnie could have gotten the package, opened it and put it up for sale on the forum and return an empty box.
When the postmaster looked at the tracking info it showed the package as delivered on 5/4 and the postmaster said when it says delivered someone whould have had to sign for it. Then the tracking info shows that it was "refused" on 5/9 & 5/12 and then sent back.
The postmaster then did an inquiry for the signature and who has signed for the package...It was signed for by " C. Beatty" on 5/4.
I then had him do an inquiry as to who signed for the original package sent to Ronnie on 3/29 and it to was signed for by "C. Beatty" on 4/1.

When I came back to this thread I found that all the sale thread had been removed and replaced with "Withdrawn" on 5/9...How convenient.

I suspect he removed the laser, taped it back up to look as if it were unopened and gave it back to the postman as told them some sort of story to get them to take it back as "refused".

No doubt the postal service may be looking into this as tampering with the mail is federal offense.
I also expect that he will try to if he has not already done so is to try and contest the charge on his credit card for the purchase. Luckily I have everything well documented such as the google cache showing he got his replacement as well as recordings of all his voicemails and my emails to him explaining that he just can't use a laser for 26 days and get a cash refund.

To top it all off, I disassembled the original pointer tonight and found that the lens assembly had broken off and was not rattling around inside as it was jammed between the module and body, these are glued tightly into place so the only way it could break in this manner is by dropping the laser (which is not covered by the warranty).

I warn against any dealings with RonnieB15 and if a forum member did get in touch with Ronnie and buy his pointer, I would be very interested in hearing from you if you can provide proof of his sale to you.

I saw the reply over the weekend and could respond until today.

I have no involvement in this hoax.

I did buy the PPL from Opto.

I did return the laser to opto and have a valid USPS receipt for the return
and the laser was in it's original box.

This bizarre hoax was perpetrated by members of a bizarre non-christian religious sect in the greater phoenix metroplitan area.

There is an active ongoing investigation by the Phoenix PD and the
individuals responsible for this insulting hoax have been identified.

I will post again when I have addition information.

Regards

Hi Ronnie,
When you left a voicemail yes, you asked if I had any questions and I replied by email.
Maybe you haven't checked your email so here is the text from my reply with questions I had regarding this ordeal.
---------------------------------------
Hi Ronnie,
I just received your voicemail stating that you filed a report with
Phoenix police and they may have the persons responsible for this.
You asked to contact you if I had any questions.

The questions I have are.
1. Who is C. Beaty ( the person who signed for the package on 5/4),
this person also that signed for your original package on 4/1/2011?
2. In your LPF thread you listed the replacement pointer for sale on
5/8 and stated that it had been repaired/replaced and indicated that
you had received the replacement and that it has no blemishes
whatsoever.

I am wondering why this didn't end here and why the empty box was
resealed and given back to the USPS as "refused"?
My postmaster is also wondering how a package can be signed for by C.
Beaty and show as delivered on their system on 5/4, then on 5/9 it
somehow gets back into the system as a refused package and an empty
box mailed back to us, then also on 5/9, the sale thread is deleted
and marked as withdrawn.

It seems very fishy to me even though C. Beaty, signed for the
package, he/she must have given it to you as you posted in the LPF
that it had been returned and the package must also have been opened,
as you mentioned in the posting that (I pasted a copy of above) it was
returned with no blemishes and the sale included the original box.

If phoenix police dept. needs, my post office printed copies from the
USPS internal web with documentation showing original delivery of the
replacement package on 5/4 with a photo showing the name and signature
of C. Beaty on 5/4. I can scan them and email/fax them to the
detective in charge of the investigation if he/she would like copies
for proof of delivery on 5/4. I also have the empty shipping box which I can
provide to them if the post master here no longer needs it.

ok jack

I have postal receipts with dates, tracking numbers, proof of receipt,
and weights for each shipment. So you did receive the laser.

to answer your questions;
C. Beatty is a member of the office staff at my residential complex
who signs for packages. Nothing suspicious there.

Now jack when you keep the money and the laser that's
illegal.

so jack your duplicity in this matter is intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer.

If you would like to contact the Phoenix PD regarding your illegal
behavior feel free to do so.

Perhaps everyone should reconsider Jack's rep as a cool dude to
deal with because he ain't.

you moron

Ronnie,
There's something you should know.
Truth stands on it's own and true stories never change.
Lies on the other hand are made up and change over time as the real truth is revealed to try and explain away the facts.

What I've stated in this thread are true and well documented both by USPS internal documents that were given to me by my postmaster, voicemail records you left on our phone system and last but not least, your full record of post edits that you made to this thread which Daguin (forum moderator) has saved for me showing your original sale thread and every edit you've made to it.

Your story on the other hand seems to be just that, a story.
It changes over time and then you're caught in your lies.
One day you say the people who did this were from a bizarre non-christian religious sect, now you've changed your story.

You put up a for sale post for your returned pointer telling everyone it arrived back to you in good working order with no blemishes whatsoever.
Well, so how did you know this without getting the package from C. Beaty the person who signed for the delivery and then opening the package yourself to test and inspect it?
That, in your own words proves that you got the pointer. It also proves that someone committed mail fraud (a federal offense) by re-taping up an empty box and indicating to a postal employee that the package had never been opened and was being refused; this was the only "illegal" thing being done here and it was done by someone in Phoenix.

As far as money goes, you bought a pointer on 3/28 and it was shipped to you on 3/29 and arrived to you on 4/1. You used it for 26 days and left a voicemail that you were having a problem with it (this is recorded and I have the VM on file) and that it was being sent back for me to look at and take care of. I got it back and sent you another one that arrived on 5/4. After I had sent you the new one, I got a chance to do some failure analysis on the returned one and it appears that it had been dropped and broken (something that is not covered by warranty). So if anything you have gotten 2 laser for the price of one as your breaking the 1st one was your fault not ours. Had I had the time to check it out before trusting you, I would have informed you that it had been dropped and the loss was yours and no 2nd laser would have even been shipped to you.

You lied to me by telling me it just failed all by itself rather tahn the truth that it had been dropped or exposed to excessive G-shock.
Now you're making up more lies as you're caught in old ones.

I also have my doubts that you even contacted the phoenix PD as they would see through your lies right away and it would only incriminate you, did you say you had a case number and detective's name who took your report and told you about the "bizarre non-christian religious sect"? I think not, because you made it all up in your head to cover youe lies.

Tracking information with receipts, you have no reciept as that would only be given to you if you paid for the return shipping which you did not.
I doubt you even have the tracking number as you were probably not smart enough to write down a record of it when you got the package.

Oh I forgot you said you never got the package....if so, you were lying in your sale post about getting it back from me and it coming to you with "no blemishes whatsoever"
Well if that's the case, then you wouldn't even have a record of delivery nor a tracking number.

In my entire life, I've only run into 2 pathological liars, your the 2nd. The 1st was much worse as I worked him 30 years ago and the lies he would weave and about of time he spent trying to cover them up was amazing. I just don't understand why some people do this.

I have also given Daguin access to the document the USPS provided me to back up the facts. I would post them here, but the pdf file is 800kb.
I'm also going to send access to tech_junkie so a couple of our long trusted members can attest to the facts I've presented.

I will post Jacks document when he advises me to do so.
